If The defense shows up like it did against the Cowboys and Goff scores more TD's for us than the Dolphins we could do alright here!

The run on winning games has to happen at some point, doesn't it?

From Detroit News

Nine players didn't practice Wednesday. That group consisted of safety DeShon Elliott (finger), defensive end Charles Harris (groin), tight end T.J. Hockenson (knee), cornerback Mike Hughes (knee), safety Ifeatu Melifonwu (ankle), guard Jonah Jackson (neck), cornerback Chase Lucas (ankle), offensive tackle Matt Nelson (calf) and wide receiver Josh Reynolds.

Additionally, offensive tackle Taylor Decker (neck), center Frank Ragnow (foot) and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (concussion protocol) were limited.

In positive news, D'Andre Swift was a full participant, days after missing his third consecutive game because of shoulder and ankle injuries. That puts the dual threat running back on track to return Sunday.

Cornerback Will Harris, who missed last weekend's game against Dallas with a hip injury, was also a full participant.

The Detroit Lions have carefully avoided setting any timetables on rookie Jameson Williams' return, as he continues to work his way back from a torn ACL he suffered in January, while playing in the College Football Playoff championship game for the University of Alabama.

On Wednesday, coach Dan Campbell didn't provide specifics, but noted the team still expects Williams to play this season — even if he's still weeks away from returning to practice.

"There's still hope," Campbell said. "There again, he's put together a pretty good month, a real good month. So, we feel like we're going to have him before this season's out. It's hard to say when that's going to be. I would say at least probably another month. But I do feel like we're going to get him before this is said and done."

The Lions should do better if they don't turn the ball over 4 times in the second half.

No wonder the defense looked so much better.

Tidbits for upcoming game

The Dolphins rank 21st with 14 sacks. Beating the pass rush should not be a major problem this week. There will be time for Goff to deliver.

BB_72: Oruwariye or Will Harris will get lit up this weekend and whoever plays NB

The Lions have to at least slow down Miami's receiving tandem of Tyreek Hill, who leads the NFL in catches (57) and receiving yards (773), and Jaylen Waddle, who ranks fourth with 621 receiving yards on just 34 catches. The Lions won't face a tougher duo all season.

The Dolphins haven't scored more than 17 points the last four games.

Lions also release DL Bruce Hector

So, why is this move necessary? There are two likely positions that need attention. First is kicker, where practice squader Michael Badgley has been twice elevated to the active roster on game day, leaving him with just one remaining elevation from the rest of the season. The other potential issue is depth in the Lions secondary, where four defensive backs—DeShon Elliott, Mike Hughes, Chase Lucas (in a walking boot), and Ifeatu Melifonwu—have not practiced this week and are all in danger of missing this Sunday’s game.

:noidea:

Glenn said he prides himself on being a coach that will listen to his players. During the bye, he sat down with rookie defensive lineman Aidan Hutchinson, and Hutchinson told Glenn he thought he could be more successful playing more in a two-point stance. Glenn listened. We saw more of that from Hutchinson last week as he responded with a couple sacks and three quarterback hits vs. Dallas.

Glenn said Hutchinson is a really instinctual player with good vision, and those qualities come out a little better when he's standing up as a rusher. Good on Glenn to listen to the player and make the adjustment.

The other players Detroit auditioned on Tuesday include a couple of ex-Lions, S Brady Breeze and DL Eric Banks, as well as DB Adrian Colbert. Banks and Breeze both played for the Lions in the 2021 season.

No to all those other guys. Moore helps the ST at least.

Also elevated to the 53-man roster are WR Maurice Alexander and Stanley Berryhill - who, you ask? He was signed to the practice squad during the bye weel.

Lions have only 4 semi-healthy WR in AR-SB, J. Reynolds, K. Raymond and Tom Kennedy.

An undrafted rookie out of Arizona, Berryhill has yet to make an NFL appearance, but as a Wildcat, he was a weapon all over the place as a senior. He caught 83 (!) passes for 744 yards, rushed 19 times for 121 yards, and returned 18 punts for an average of 8.7 per return. At 5-foot-11, 190 pounds, Berryhill fits Detroit’s preference for smaller, speedier options that can play in the slot.

These DBs.. geez. So tired of seeing passes completed to guys wide open, seemingly completely unchallenged, well down the field. What a weakness.

Who is the color guy on the broadcast? He sounds very confused about the situation and time left.

Right though his hands. You're in the end zone ffs. You don't have to worry about anything but catching the damn ball.
