Hutch is rounding into form with his run defense and Alim McNeil looked like a Pro Bowl NT today. McNeil was mostly dominate the entire game beating double teams often.
Hutch is definitely earning his draft status, I admit to being worried that the speed of the pro game might be too much for him (such as how he was easily neutralized against Georgia). Dude has a motor and is getting much better at reading the plays.

McNeil was a beast today, that was a welcome sight.

UPDATE: Jeff Okudah is OUT for Thanksgiving vs. Bills, per Dan Campbell

UPDATE 2: According to Lions coach Dan Campbell, Okudah does not have enough time to clear concussion protocol for Thursday’s game against the Buffalo Bills:

“No,” Campbell said. “Yeah, he’ll be out. I can’t imagine—I’m pretty sure—we just talked about it and I don’t think there’s any way possible he can play.”

I would take any of the following at the present time for possible drafted prospects at the CB position - not in order though at this time

Devon Witherspoon
Cam Smith
Christian Gonzalez
Joey Porter

Kelee Ringo is great at being physical, but his hips are too tight to recover and that may also include Porter
The trend for years had been bigger and faster WR's. You needed those huge CB's like Porter and Ringo. I'd still take either, but with all the rules limiting hits to WR's these small quick guys are starting to be the trend right now. And I don't think there is a quicker short area, slot/nickel type guy than Phillips3 from Utah. Watched him play for the second time, so it might have just been 2 good games, but he's the guy I want.

But the coverage looks a whole lot better if QB's have to run for their life and or get rid of the ball quick. If they paired Anderson, Carter, or Murphy with a free agent CB I would be ok too.

I surely wouldn't be opposed to drafting either, but I've noticed all too often with Ringo getting exposed outside this year with lean, quicker twitch receivers leaving him trailing all too often. That defensive front crashing the pocket all too often and having two safeties returning from last year's team has negated opportunities for opposing QB to strike at will.

I simply see both as a better fit for cover 3 scheme seeing what's in front of them and coming downhill.

I've given up on hoping that either of Will Anderson or Jalen Carter being available for when it's our time to draft. I'd be ecstatic with either of those two.

I like how Kirby Smart has used Carter this year from 6-tech down to 0-tech and not merely employing him as a primary 3-tech. There's a lot to work with there from a physical stature to all that's in his current toolbox.

I'm not that big of a fan of Myles Murphy though. He's a great run defending, sealing the edge type DE, but I don't see the fluidity or agility in him as a "bend the edge, run the arc with speed and work around an OT" type. I wouldn't be disappointed with this selection, but there's plenty of uncertainty surrounding his projection for me.

“Jamaal Williams is the first player to score multiple rushing touchdowns in at least five of his team’s first 10 games since Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson in 2006, when he set the single-season TD record with 31,” per NFL research.

Per the Lions PR department, only four players in Lions history have scored 10 touchdowns in a single season. The Lions single-season rushing touchdown mark (16) is currently owned by Barry Sanders back in 1991. Williams is just four rushing touchdowns away from matching that mark, with seven games remaining.

“He’s our leader. Not just offensively, but our team leader,” running backs coach/assistant head coach Duce Staley said.

BB_72: As long as he doesn't get hit with the friendly fire injury bug, please re-sign him even if it means 5-7M per year.

He is all of that and then some.

I also believe that Devon Witherspoon would make a great nickel CB. I'm sure some may question the transition to inside, but he exudes the toughness, tackling ability and short to intermediate area quickness to prosper inside.

Sewell is still a beast, but at what point do the penalties become a massive concern?

I have no proof as I'd be purely guessing, but I would think that his total number of penalty's this year might have already eclipsed last year's.

It's only year two for him, but his mental mistakes of false starts this year seem to outnumber those from last year also. I also believe he's had at least two personal foul unsportsmanlike penalties.

I hope that yesterday's game is a kickstart for games beyond for McNeil. I know that he has 3 or 4 games where he has controlled the L.O.S. but nowhere near the degree of dominance like yesterday.
