After today's fumble by Jamaal - his 5th of the season and 2nd of the season that was recovered by his teammate - leaves me questioning on whether he should be re-signed. No harm, no foul as Brock Wright recovered it, but he has to be better at securing the ball by double arm barring it when coming into contact with multiple defenders.

Anzalone made a perfect read at the 11-minute mark of the 4th quarter when he was positioned as a 6-tech and scraped down the line to tackle Etienne for that loss.

It had to be the play of the year for Anzalone.

Did anyone notice whether or not Romeo got any play time today?

Chark looked good today at least from a health perspective. He certainly helped to draw extra coverage his way on several occasions.

I cannot wait to see when Jameson is 100% and having the two of them on the field at the same time. Maybe the last 3 or 4 games of the season it'll happen. Opponents are going to have an extremely tough time covering either one of those two with single coverage and if a safety is drawn into coverage for one of them that's going to make it easier for AR-SB.

Holmes will need to draft or sign another speedy wideout this off-season to help Goff out and all other receivers. Should that player be TCU WR Quentin Johnson? I'm usually not one who likes to see WR drafted in the first round, but it is a legitimate question - speedy WR are so much cheaper to come by in the draft than free agency.

Amon-Ra St, Brown surely isn't solely an X-WR, but he damn for sure is in the conversation for a WR1.

Real impressive performance today.

They’ve turned the corner here lately.

For one, the Lions scored on their first eight possessions of the game. Stats like that are hard to track in history, but according to NFL Research, the Lions hadn’t scored on their first SIX possessions since at least 1993.

Here’s some other stats from Detroit’s dominant performance against the Jaguars:

  • This is the first time the Lions haven’t punted in a home game since 1971, according to the Lions PR.
  • Jared Goff’s completion percentage of 75.6% is the 11th highest of his career and the third highest in a game in which he attempted 40+ passes.
  • Goff’s 340 passing yards is the second most he’s ever thrown in a Lions jersey.
  • DJ Chark’s 98 receiving yards is the fifth highest of his career, and highest since 2020.
  • No team has put up 30 points in a game more often this year than the Lions:
  • The Lions are one 30-point game away from tying a franchise record with the 2011 team. Five games left.
  • Jamaal Williams now has as many rushing touchdowns this season as Barry Sanders had in his best career season:
  • The Lions went 8-for-12 on third down—a 66.7 percent conversion rate—which is fifth best all time (since 1940). The last time they had a higher conversion rate was in 2013, when they converted 75 percent of third downs in their Thanksgiving beatdown of the Packers.
  • Amon-Ra St. Brown is literally the best receiver in the NFL on third downs:
  • Detroit’s offense had 31 first downs on the day—tied for fourth most in franchise history (since 1940).
  • D’Andre Swift’s 111 total yards is his second most all season and seventh most all-time for the third-year running back.

Goff’s quarterback rating of 115.9 was his third-highest of the season, after his performance against the Washington Commanders (121.7) and Seattle Seahawks (121.5).

Michael Badgley has settled in as the Lions kicker, and this outing against the Jaguars was perhaps his best outing. A perfect four-for-four, three of which came from beyond 40 yards, brought Badgley’s total with the Lions to 13-for-14

BB:72 and yet the Jags PK, Riley Patterson, who @Old Lion misses terribly so has missed 4/8 attempts this year at 45 yards or beyond

The Lions have forced an interception in four straight games (total of seven), but their efficiency goes beyond that. Here’s, again, a comparison before and after November:

First 7 games (per game stats): 69.3% completion rate, 7.5 Y/A, 246.9 yards, 1.7 TDs, 0.3 INTs, 1.6 sacks

Last 4 games: 57.7% completions, 7.0 Y/A, 263.0 yards, 1.5 TDs, 1.75 INTs, 2.25 sacks

Detroit’s pass defense has basically improved in every statistical measure over the past month.

That said, their pass rush remains inconsistent (32nd in pass rush win rate, 29th in PFF grade, 13th in pressure percentage).

McNeill is another player hitting his stride, In the past four weeks, he’s garnered a 76.1 PFF grade, good for 10th among interior defenders with at least 100 snaps.
