The sin is lying to the public and lying to your administration. Letting a violent punk on your team may be a mistake, but it isn't a fire-able offense.
Umm, yes it is.

Who are these successful coaches who were fired for letting problem students on their team? SI did an expose and I'm pretty sure a majority of schools had players with felony convictions on their record.

If that were a fire-able offense, pretty much every major coach would have lost their job.

It's so true.

And yes, it was a shady/douchey move on Briles' behalf, but I don't think this is a fireable offense either.

I'm not saying he will be fired but he has the reputation of the University to uphold. He can be fired for it and there isn't dick he can do about it.

This is a university that had to fire a basketball coach for covering up a murder. He doesn't have a reputation to uphold - he has a reputation to change. And he is doing a poor job of it.

He isn't going to survive this.
The University will begin to see lawsuits which will pave the way to internal information or lack thereof then poof.
He gets fired to save their own asses.

I'm just wondering how powerful this is in the short term. Can the momentum make things happen in weeks or days??

Yeah, I don't see him making it through this. The question is will they try to see how the season plays out first.

What we need is for a couple of more players to show their true colors before game day. :heh:

What's worse, bringing on a known violent player who then rapes a young woman then you instruct your staff to lie and cover it up or having sex with a volleyball player? Because the guy having sex with a volleyball player was fired.
