Give him enough carries and he could. It's hard to get any momentum when you're getting 11 carries a game. I don't think he's a HR RB yet either, but the guy is still talented. Samuel is very capable but like Weber, he isn't getting the carries to do it. Having a mobile RB takes away from that, obviously.

It will be interesting to see us play Bama. Like I said, Ole Miss and Arkansas put up points against them, and if they can do it so can OSU.

Mike Weber will be what you see from him. Hard nosed runner and get you the tough yards. He isn't going to turn into Elliott. He is much smaller and slower than Elliott. He will struggle against any physical defense. He will tear up soft defenses who arm tackle though.

Samuel is a great back in space. I'm guessing this is why they moved him to the slot, as he wouldn't be very effective running between the tackles. The problem is -- without any threats on the outside. I can see teams doing what UM did and putting their top CB on him (he only had like 45-50 yards of offense in regulation with 15 coming on the first end around)

And I know many fans want to go back to 2014's team, but OSU's had some freak talent at the skill positions. The two teams are completely different.

Hurts has been more efficient and has a better QBR, and has been much more consistent, hence the higher QBR.
Adjusted QBR is 5 points better, which matches the amount of INTs he's thrown over the amount JT has thrown.

Can't believe this thread is still going-on. That game was God-awful. If OSUx is actually in the playoff conversation, it'll be a GDed outrage.

It was not a well played game. 2 missed chip shots, a couple of bad picks... 1 a pick 6, an unforced fumble on the 1, a botched fake punt inside the 20, Barrett often looked lost & missed badly several times .. I could go on & on. It was fun to watch but it wasn't what I'd call a great game.

Sorry, meant that he was a first year starter, not a freshman. My bad there.

Also, that's not true about Arky. They were getting yards all game long. They had 3 drives of 68+ yards in the first half alone.

Ole Miss has a very good TE but what WRs do they have that are better than guys like Curtis Samuel and Noah Brown?

I meant why he had that many passing yards, plus the Bama D scored twice, so Arkansas had the ball much more than they otherwise would have.

Stringfellow is better than Brown IMO, and Samuel is a hybrid player, not sure I would consider him a traditional WR. But he's very good, if you're going to consider him a traditional WR I'd take him over anybody on Ole Miss/Ark.

Oh I know he won't be Elliott. There likely won't be another Elliott in college football for several years in terms of overall skillset. However, it's not like he's a bum. You're acting like he's Derrick Green. He's still also only a freshman, mind you.

Samuel doesn't need to be effective running between the tackles, we don't need him for that.

The two teams are different, yes. However, this OSU team isn't devoid of talent. There's a reason they're listed as one of the top offenses in the nation while playing one of the toughest schedules. We'll see what happens in the playoff.

I realize Hurts has thrown more INT's. Hurts has a better QBR, QB rating and has been more efficient this season, plus a higher completion %. I'm gonna say if anything they are even, but I'd lean slightly Hurts. But it's close, just don't know how you can say Barrett has been better.

If OSU looked like UM did against Iowa and had WR's open by 3-5 yards behind the defense and the ball was overthrown or under thrown. I'd be blaming the QB. Which is exactly what I did when Speight missed 4 throws to wide open guys that would have been tds against Iowa.

It isn't as if OSU WR's has tore up anyone. It is Curtis Samuel and that is it. This is why I think OSU would struggle against Bama. They can do what UM did and put their top CB (Fitzpatrick) on Samuel, because they don't have to worry about getting beat by the outside WR's. And Bama's rush defense is lightyears better than UM's.

Well then, shit.. it's settled. We've already lost to Bama so why even try.

OSU definitely isn't devoid of talent. But the talent level between 2014 and 2016 is very different. You had multiple explosive play makers on offense, including 3 NFL ready WR. Hell. Look at Michael Thomas today -- 100 yards and 2 tds.

This year's team has one NFL ready player at the skill positions and he is more of a hybrid slot/RB.

Yesterday's game only confirmed what I had been saying. OSU is a quality team, but UM held them to one 13 yard TD drive in regulation. I don't want to sound like a jerk, but I'd guess not only will Bama roll over OSU. The spread will probably be double digits in Vegas.

Just like Bama rolled over LSU? You act like we'd be going up against the New England Patriots. Given that we have time to prepare and get a game plan in place, I don't think it's going to be the blow out you're expecting.

I don't think Alabama is some once in a lifetime team, I just think they are, by far, the best team this year. It is kind of a perfect storm type of year. You have teams who are normally really good, who are struggling. You have teams with great offenses and no defense. You have teams with great defense and they are missing key parts on offense.

It is no secret how to attack Bama. You need to be able to hold off Bama's pass rush and attack downfield. I really am lost on why you are bringing up LSU. Fournette had 18 carries for 35 yards and the game reminded me of UM/Wisconsin. Total domination everywhere but the scoreboard. LSU barely broke 100 yards offense and never threatened.

Yeah, I agree.. it's been one of those years. If we do get into the playoffs, we'll be underdogs for sure, but with time to prepare, I think you'll see a better team than what you saw Saturday.

I think Michigan would open up the playbook more come bowl time as well. It would be interesting to see a primed Spurrier Florida team against this Bama one.

yeah, would be interesting.. although last time Spurrier faced a top defense, UF got their shit pushed in by Nebraska.

True that. I love watching the highlights from that game. Lawrence Phillips is one of the most talented RBs I've ever seen. Too bad he pissed it all away

I apologize if I was coming off as Alabama is the best team ever created. I just feel CFB this year is extremely watered down and Bama is the best of the lot.

I think OSU could beat any of the other teams in the CFP. I just think OSU/Bama is a terrible matchup for OSU.

All the teams are quite mediocre imo except Bama. That's just how a feel. No strong QB play from many different programs.
