Report: NBA executives believe Kevin Love and LaMarcus Aldridge most likely high-profile free agents to change teams | ProBasketballTalk

If Love does leave that would give TT more playing time and give the Cavs some more flexibility to make the bench deeper.

You sure?
How much cap space does it actually free up?
You can't assume 20M frees up just because that's his salary.

You would only have available whatever the cap is minus the other players salaries.

Love to the Heat?

How awesome would it be for Love to go to Miami and have the Heat knock the Cavs out of the playoffs? :heh:

It wont free up what his salary is, bc they can sign him bc of the Bird Rights. But it can at least give them a little more flexibility signing one or two guys for role players possibly.

That would be interesting, but never would happen. Bosh is basically the same type of player as Love and Miami has to sign everyone else to max deals lol.

We don't need another PF.
Beasley decision needs to be made be June 30.

Yeah, I agree. If the Heat didn't have Whiteside or weren't as high on him as they appear to be, then Bosh could play center and going after Love might make sense. With Whiteside though, no reason to go after Love. Besides, I haven't even heard of the Heat having any interest in Love.

it would barely free up any cap roo m if Love left unless they just got rid of everyone- shumpert, smith, thompson, varejao in a deal somehow.....

Its why they really should try and keep him to the best of their ability---- now next year when the cap goes up they would have a bbunch of cap room they would not otherwise have if they signed him- but this offseason it would hurt---- all though- they could get under the tax apron and execute a sign and trade if love left, shumpert and smith left---- they could then use the haywood contract in a sign and trade and get a significant piece......

theyhave options- a ton of money, a bunch of pieces ot move around the board

I cant wait to see what they do- Griffin has proven himself to be a very solid mover of the chess pieces and does not get nearly enough credit for all the complex moves that he pulled off

a lot of haters said that Griffins trades were "panic" moves and that he was just LeBrons mouthpiece- and the exact opposite has been proven the last few months. Griffin deserved being so high in the GM of the year voting- His peers respect him a ton and that is a great indicator of how good he is at his position because they actually know what is going on.

I just watched him play. I think he is soft and going to be a bust. I dont think he is tough enough for the NBA. I think that Russell is the guy to take- possibly even over Towns. Russell might take a whilebecause its so damn hard to run a team right off the bat as a rook- but he has star written allover him- and itsa lot harder to find a dominant wing player then it is to find a really good big man-----its harder to find a GREAT big man- but those are basically non existent in todays NBA- and the Warriors just won with their best big man- sitting the bench most of the time- the Heats best big man played on theperimeter

If the Lakers waste their pick on a post up big man then they will have sabotaged this rebuild. Post up big men are just not the way to win in todays NBA unless you get Duncan. Is Okafor Duncan? HELL NO.

DeMarcus Cousins is a GREAt post up big that gets insane numbers and his team is awful.

Dont fall into the trap that going with the big is the best play- its not true in todays NBA...go with the best player- and thats definitely not Okafor.

Id tkae Mudiay or winslow before Okafor. Okafor is what? at best a little better version of Al Horford? Not worth it at all- take the guy with the ball in his hands- or even take the Kawhi leonard lite winslow...the perimeter wing that can guard anyone is very valuable in todays NBA.

Okafor- a post up big- thatis soft is DEFINITELY not the way to go. Watch- the Knicks will take him...it would be such a Knick move to be excited he "fell" and then reap the result.

Id go Towns, Russell, 1, 2 and not think twice....after that go for Mudiay or Winslow on preference...

seriously....The Cavs werejust fine with Mozgov as their big....the Warriors won with Bogutas their best big...The Heats best big that actually plays like a big was Joel Anthony on some of those teams, lol..................... Atlanta had a goodbut not great center in Horford and won over 60 games.....houston had Howard which helps a ton but you never run the offense through him.

No one runs an offense inside out through a big man anymore. All it does is slow your pace and takes away from your three point shooting if you have a big man taking a bunch of baby hooks.

Knowing Byron Scott- who loves to live in the past- he will love that plodding inside out basketball with a post up big man. Its just not todays NBA.....

The Grizzlies have 2 great bigmenand can never get over the hump. Take the ultra talented wing player.....you seriously wont regret it. Those are the guys that win. Chris Paul wins- not DeAndre Jordan. Curry wins, not Cousins- LeBron and Kyrie win- not Gasol and Zbo...

Kobe can play all the odd numbered games and Wade can play the evens. Works out perfectly. Lakers 2016 NBA Champs!

Love it!!! Alternatively, Wade and Melo could team up in NY!!!

I hope you guys sign love to max, Tristan to a max and Lebron to a max. That way your owner can pay over 100 million in luxury tax. Would be comical if the Cavs pulled a Brooklyn and in the process ended up trading 2 first round picks plus two players who were former first round picks and who could end up being studs to appease the King......

Wow...Did Minny tell Towns he's going #1?

The Lakers have also become increasingly doubtful they will have a workout for Kentucky center Karl-Anthony Towns. The Lakers believe their lack of progress with those efforts stem from most NBA mock drafts predicting the Minnesota Timberwolves will select with their No. 1 pick. But the Lakers will accommodate their workout schedule should Towns and his representatives express interest in a workout.

My understanding is that Towns isn't working out for anyone. Apparently, he held a private workout in Los Angeles and invited teams to that. I don't know that he's said why though.

I know Flip was said to want Okafor, but the FO wanted Towns. Don't know if that means the FO is getting their way and Towns has been told or if it's just because the majority of mock drafts have him going #1 despite Flip preferring Okafor.

Maybe Flip has flipped and wants Towns now? :noidea:

Personally, I'm at the point where I don't care if they take Towns, Okafor or Russell. I'd even be happy with Mudiay (although not as happy as with one of the first 3).

MEcca- you gotta understand that in todays NBA post up big men are like dinosaurs. I mean Byron Scott is the most antiquated and least forward thinking coachin in the league evidenced by his distate for the 3 pointer and lack of instituting advanced statistics- so he might LOVE the idea of playing aninside out game with a polished center prospect.

but really- Golden State did not have an elite center- they actualy BENCHED their center beause Mozgov and TT were having their way with him, lol

The Cavs best center was Mozgov- their only true 7 footer, its not like he is a world beater--- on the Hawks al hofrford is not 7 foot and is not your typical power center but they won over 60 games and got t othe ECF--

Memphis is the only team that really employs a bigcenter and big PF and they have never broken through in the playoffs even though I have liked their talent.

What do you think?

I hear you.

It's win-win.

I love Okafor.

It's kinda a shame that the draft happens before Free agency.

If the Lakers could get Monroe, I'd pass on Okafor and take Russell.

Curry, Kyrie...combo, scoring pg's are the future.

As for Towns, I heard the same about him not working out for anyone.

He and his Pops are enroute to Minny...probably for a meet and greet.
