I'll throw in Jim Edmonds diving, over the shoulder, catch. Andruw Jones would have been camped under that.

At the time, maybe, but it seems as the years have gone by, that play doesn't really get talked about anymore.

But even if Edmonds didn't have the range of Andruw Jones, it was still an impressive catch given the range he had to work with.

Sure, but that doesn't mean I am going to pass up a chance to bash that frosted tip douche.

I've always been envious of the Cardinals organization, so I kinda liked him when he played there.

Eh, in my lifetime they've won 2 championships and the Sox have won 3. So I don't envy them.

They've won two to the Braves' one in my lifetime.

But they are the model of consistency. Never have to rebuild, every 30th round pick they touch turns to gold, every over the hill free agent they sign seems to regain their former glory.

Man, I did not expect a bunch of young guys in this thread.

Im not much for things like team envy or curses. I think every city has one really special championship run in some sport at this juncture.

Yeah, there might be a couple more. Atlanta and Cinci might be on that list I think

(edit. maybe not. I'm sure there are a couple. Buffalo?)

I was 4 years old and I just barely remember the Braves World Series, and I didn't really know what was going on other than my parents getting excited.

I don't watch basketball, and I'd trade the Falcons leaving town for either a Braves World Series or a UGA natty.

Our Bravos had top management for 20 years.
The WS losses were flukes early on, then it got in Cox's head, but it was a beautifully managed organization.

It was. Started to go down hill about the time we traded Adam Wainwright for one year of JD Drew and sold the farm for what basically amounted to a year of Mark Teixeira.

We're climbing our way back up.

I want to say Derek Jeter's catch on a pop up where he needlessly dove into the stands.

But I will say Carlton Fisk's homer in game 6 of the 1975 World Series.

What was so significant about that homer? All it did was force a game 7 that the Reds went on to win.

Only notable thing about it was Fisk waving his arms like a spaz down the first base line.
Fisk's dinger won a World Series game.

Jeter's catch in fair territory of a July game didn't help the Yankees win the division (they won by 3 games) AND it came in the same season that the Yankees blew a 3-0 ALCS series lead to Boston.

Very true, and I'm not gonna try to make an argument to defend Jeter.

But to me, the David Freese walkoff shot in game 6 of the 2011 WS to force game 7 >>>> The Fisk homer. You know, the Cardinals actually won their game 7.

Oh you want to talk about an overrated game, it's that 2011 WS Game 6.

Call it the most dramatic or exciting game of all time all you want. But when people start saying that was one of the "best" games of all time, no thanks. Sloppy play, 5 errors, 4 unearned runs and that doesn't include Cruz not playing the wall correctly on the Freese triple.

Who said it was one of the best games?

Sure forcing game 7 in the WS agains the the 70's Reds...no big thing. Happens 3x a day now
