I brought the question up numerous times in a thread last season, but nobody seemed to have an answer.

What makes Carlton Fisk's walk off home run to force a game 7 in the 1975 World Series more iconic than than David Freese's walk off home run to force game 7 in the 2011 World Series?

Freese's home run was hit farther. It was in extra innings. And most importantly of all, Freese's team went on to win game 7 and the World Series, while Fisk's homer was largely for nothing since his team lost game 7 and the World Series.

Is it because Fisk waved his arms like a spaz?

Still my vote for the most overrated play in baseball history.

I hit a home run in my beer league a few years back. I think that should count because I chugged a beer right after!

Freese didn't make some goofy motion to tell his ball for stay fair.

Also old people and everything was better in the past.

Carlton Fisk was a much better baseball player than David Freese.

David Freese impregnated 7 women(that he’s aware of) that night.

Show some fucking respect

Red Sox Yankees East Coast bias.

The two that should be shown before Fisk's are Mazeroski and Carter's. They were both the final at bat of the WS.

So?

Bucky fucking Dent and Aaron fucking Boone have iconic post season home runs where their team won the series.

If someone mentions Fisk's homer before either of those, I immediately tune out.

Hell, Luis Gonzalez's little flare against a drawn in infield and Edgar Renteria's line drive up the middle are more iconic in my eyes than Fisk's homer.

You know I was being nice then you got to go and be a complete asshole by bringing up Luis Gonzalez. Now I need to get a coloring book and a puppy so I can go to my safe place.:poke:

Yeah I originally said because Red Sox, but Freese also did that on the Cardinals. Might not be the Yankees or Sox but there are plenty of people nationally who are lackeys for their pet birds.

You never said you wanted a fair answer. Hell, you didn't even say you wanted the right answer. You just said you wanted an answer and I gave it to you. You're welcome.

Kirk Gibson’s blast in the 1988 World Series was probably the best, I ever saw. But Carlton Fisk’s home run was East Coast bias.

Red Sox bias.

Dave Roberts' steal in Game 4 of '04 is a more important play than that Fisk homer. But chicks dig the long ball, and so forth.
