Sure forcing game 7 in the WS agains the the 70's Reds...no big thing. Happens 3x a day now

Well since you didn't offer up a play of your own, your stance gets substantially weaker.

And for the 3rd time, what makes the Fisk home run better than David Freese's homer in game 6 of the 2011 World Series? Freese's home was hit farther, to dead center and most importantly, the Cardinals actually went on to win game 7, so it wasn't all for naught.

Is the fact that the ball was hit to dead center instead of down the line a detractor? Only thing more notable about the Fisk homer is he was waving his arms like a spaz.

Haven't read the entire 8 pages of the thread but the G. 6 home run by Fisk in the 75 Series gets more airplay than Pearl Harbor. It just extended the series to G. 7.

I want to say Derek Jeter's catch on a pop up where he needlessly dove into the stands.

But I will say Carlton Fisk's homer in game 6 of the 1975 World Series.

What was so significant about that homer? All it did was force a game 7 that the Reds went on to win.

Only notable thing about it was Fisk waving his arms like a spaz down the first base line.

Your first instinct was the correct one.

Oh you want to talk about an overrated game, it's that 2011 WS Game 6.

Call it the most dramatic or exciting game of all time all you want. But when people start saying that was one of the "best" games of all time, no thanks. Sloppy play, 5 errors, 4 unearned runs and that doesn't include Cruz not playing the wall correctly on the Freese triple.

Same reason 2016's game 7 was overrated.

It was shit baseball and CLE literally gave away like 4 runs.

And that doesn't include Shaw forgetting he had more than 1 pitch in the 10th inning.

Exciting play sure, but no way should it be making any top 5 list of greatest plays in baseball history. His team went on to lose the next game and The World Series, and the only memorable thing about it was him waving his arms like a spaz.

You can look through homer glasses all you want, but for me, I'll never see what the big fucking deal was about it.

That homerun was an all-timer. The problem, IMO, is that most if not all casual baseball fans watch the replay and think that Boston won the Series. Fisk can wave his arms all he wants. Reds in 7.

it should've been the walk off winner.

they really fucked up that missed interference call that cost the sox a game earlier in the series.

The past is the past. Interestingly enough, Larry Barnett was behind home plate in Game 3 of the '75 series and the Jeffrey Maier game at Yankee Stadium. Pretty cool.

I've always said that the Jeter catch wasn't even the best play in that game. Remember the double play that A-Rod turned in the 11th, cutting down Kapler at the plate to keep the game tied? That was an incredible play. I don't know if there's video of it anywhere online, I'll search a little.

Here it is. What a tough throw that was, and he made it look so easy.

Also IIRC, Pokey Reese had to make a play on a popup that actually required leaning into the stands in that game.

Yup. How is this play forgotten, but the overrated Jeter play remembered?

Jeter doesn't get to that ball. same fucking game too. Guess which one made number 1 on SC's top 10.

My choice for most overrated play in MLB history is:

Oh boo hoo. He blew the call. Blown calls happen every game.

It's not like it affected the final score.

And both are more remembered because of the blown call they would have been had he gotten it right.

MLB lost out when Joyce retired.

The most overrated play in baseball history? That's like calling a pygmy short.

Reese's play was more impressive, although neither his nor jeter's required a dive.

That was an amazing play.

ARod moving to 3B over Jeter just shows how selfish jeter truly was.

With Reese, he made a basket catch right at the wall, and he fell into the stands after hitting the wall.

I posted the video.
