Not one shred of evidence. Just a bunch of accusations trying to get a settlement from Zion’s legal team. After this who in their right mind would ever sign with her? That side of the suit is in a free fall and even sent a subpoena to a South Bend dentist by mistake! What a bunch of idiots.

Which is the reason why the NBA is letting elite high school prospects skip college and play in the G League and make $500,000 a year before entering the draft while taking online school which is paid by the league. The NCAA should find a way to fix this because stories like this that makes Zion and the NBA look bad will be the reason they will never have an elite prospect play at an institution again.

Zion Williamson's former marketing agency alleges ex-Duke star received improper benefits

The one and done rule never should have existed in the first place. It basically ruined college basketball outside of the dance. If some kid with exceptional skills wants to make a bunch of money in the league more power to them. A lot of guys have earned their degrees during the off-season in the past.

College basketball should follow the college football rule, only with the option of going pro straight out of high school. That doesn't really work for the NFL, as freshman football players are rarely ready for that jump.

I’m not a fan of the way college football does it either. They’re students in name only and most of them are pushed to get degrees that don’t necessarily reflect their talents of passions. From an education standpoint that’s counterproductive for their futures. Not to mention for many positions age is the main factor holding back their earning potential if they’re good enough to go to the NFL. Even if everyone isn’t ready to make the jump there should be an exception for the few that are.

Instead of the FBI trying to catch college athletes receiving money, which every college is doing, they should be trying to do something productive

Yeah, not wrong, but their job is to protect capital and the state, so that's like wishing for pigs to fly.

they are def. butt-hurt that Zion kicked them to the curb but unless they wanted a big time defamation suit they would not be alleging the kind of stuff they are alleging.

I just cant believe that Zion didnt pay them off and "buy them out" of their contract- im sure they used the fact that he got a shit ton of illegal benefits as leverage.

my only thought is that Zion offered them a certain amount of money and they balked at it and demanded a ton more--- they threatened to air the dirty laundry--- Zion thought they were bluffing and told them to shove it- and then they just used the discovery process to get all of this out in the open.

and the thing is- if it was false Zion would have just answered the discovery ----- he hasnt answered it and his attorneys are fighting like hell because the thing Zion wants even less than to admit that Duke cheated their asses off is for him to catch a perjury charge.

if push comes to shove and he has to answer those questions under oath- he will throw Duke under the bus because he doesnt want to open himself up to a felony perjury charge.

Zion would have already answered the discovery if it was all false.

he is having his lawyers fight tooth and claw to get it thrown out--- becuase if he is FORCED to answer these questions- trust me--- he isnt opening himself up to a perjury charge.

and just for the record--- Zion's lawyers filed a Motion to Dismiss the suit and it was denied. Now they are filing a motion to change venue- and that is why everything is on hold. Between that and the courts slowing to a crawl because of Covid the case wont be going anywhere for months.

These are some of the interrogatories that were propounded upon Zion:

  • Who owned the house at which Sharonda Sampson and Lee Anderson (your mother and step-father, respectively) lived during the time that you attended Duke?
  • Fully state all facts that show how Sharonda Sampson and Lee Anderson … found and paid for the house in which they lived during the time that you attended Duke.
  • Identify by landlord name, address, telephone number, and monthly rental rate, the property that you and your family lived in during your attendance of Duke University.
  • Before attending Duke University did you, or anyone acting on your behalf, including, but not limited to, Sharonda Sampson, Lee Anderson, Sharonda Sampson Consulting, or any other person or intermediary) directly or indirectly (through persons on your behalf) accept money, benefits, favors or other things of value to induce or incentivize you to select Duke University as your college for undergraduate study?

WRONG! Zion hasn't answered questions directed by Gina Ford's team because he hasn't had to do it, this is a ploy to sensationalize headlines in order to force a settlement because they have nothing else

WRONG AGAIN! The venue is Greensboro, NC where Zion is suing Gina Ford; she has to answer his suit and it can take a few weeks to end: here's the story:

In New Court Filing, Zion Williamson Seeks Dismissal Of Gina Ford Lawsuit

Zion doesn't have to answer any of Gina Ford's fishing questions as the bottom line is her suit to get Zion to answer questions has been stayed in Florida and the decision will come from a Greensboro court

Zion Williamson lawsuit, explained: What to know about allegations of impermissible benefits at Duke

Williamson’s lawyers argued Ford filed in Florida to circumvent his original lawsuit against her in North Carolina, “where the case clearly belongs.” Williamson grew up in North Carolina, played college basketball in one of its premier universities and was approached by Prime Sports there as well.

Ford’s legal team also filed another document in federal court on Friday, alleging she wired $100,000 to Williamson’s stepfather; in the filing, she alleged Williamson “demanded an immediate contract advance” upon signing his Prime Sports contract.

Per Daniel Wallach (a game law and sports betting attorney, as well as legal analyst for The Athletic):

i certainly do not expect you to know anything about the filing of claims or counterclaims or change of venue or jurisdiction, but when you open your mouth about something that is just so far out of your wheelhouse you do nothing but embarrass yourself Doug.

Thats where Williamson filed his counter suit. He wants the venue changed to North Carolina where he would have much more of an upperhand, instead of Florida where the agency filed suit.

the motion to dismiss was also denied, as was the motion to dismiss the claims from Williamson's attorneys. Though the bar to get passed a motion to dismiss is very very very low.

he hasnt answered the questions because the jurisdiction is at issue and there is an appeal filed to change venue by Williamson's attorneys.

The questions (interrogatories) were served on Williamson. The suit has gotten passed a motion to dismiss. Everything is on hold until they resolve the jurisdiciton issue. Once that is resolved, if the case stays where it is at, and he doesnt answer the discovery requests, the judge can force him to do so. If the case is moved, they wil llikely file another motion to dismiss in a much more sympathetic venue and may have it granted.

the whole case comes down to the fact that if Williamson was getting money on the side- the NCAA law that protected him against agents/marketing companies that did not comply with NCAA regulations no longer applies to Zion, and the contract could not be voided because of the NCAA reg.

Its really a pretty slick argument.

That may be a slick argument but it has no teeth as Gina Ford has zero proof and just a bunch of allegations. And I know more about this case than you think I do. The venue has changed from Miami to Greensboro. Miami is where Ford filed her claims. Greensboro is where Zion filed his claim, which is the original suit and was entered first. Home court-Zion so why would his lawyers need to seek another venue? Ford’s team cannot get Zion to answer questions because that suit has been stayed and cannot proceed until the Greensboro suit has been finished. That means if the UAAA law is used in the decision then Zion wins and the Miami suit falls apart. That also means Zion will never have to answer questions. And the UAAA isn’t an NCAA law, it’s a North Carolina law.

This is used in an affidavit against Zion as proof he accepted $400K and used as evidence by Attorneys representing Gina Ford. It looks to be photoshopped and has the height and weight reversed. Not only that but I noticed that they have Nikki Haley's signature as "Governor of South Carolina" in 2018. She was actually Ambassador to the United Nations in all of 2018. What a friggin' fiasco!
