well even with 5 picks that's not a lot.
they got 3 picks after their 1st in the 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds. The value for trading those rounds is not as good as the first round and the net return is always much lower. Sure they might get a 2nd and 5th for their first but i can't see them giving up a 3rd round for something like a 5th and a late 7th comp pick, But Who knows. Hawks will need to hit on almost every pick and hit on some of the UDFA also.

Hawks wont have their full compliment of picks till 2020, funny how that happens the year after Petes Contract is over. Think they had that planned? if so is that a sign that Pete may not be back after the 2019 season? I hope he Coaches the Hawks till he retires and by the way he runs up and down the sideline that wont be for a long time lol.

Wish we could go back to the ESPN boards and read some of you alls posts to the Pete Hiring, some of you HATED it and said we were doomed! lol.

As a hypothetical, let's assume Seattle gets the 24th pick in the next draft. If they trade that pick down to the 31st or 32nd pick in the 1st round, they should net a selection near the lower 3rd of the 3rd round. I disagree that a 1st round pick would only bring a 2nd and a 5th.
Are we going to get any comp picks this year? I doubt we are very active in FA in 2019 which would improve our odds at a comp if we qualify for one. Who did we lose that would qualify us for a comp? S Richardson and PRich?

I expect us to get 3 comp picks, since Sherman was cut and doesn't qualify. Jimmy Graham should net us a 3rd or 4th. Both Richardsons should get us around a 4th or 5th each.

Pete will be here as long as RW is here, plus he's trying to rebuild that D into the LOBv2.

Rewatching the SF game. Seabass's 1st miss was just a miss, but the 2nd after the Wagner TD was a bad hold. Dickson shifted the ball right before contact. Can't blame a kicker for that.

Yeah thats not how it works the Hawks signed 5 Qualifying FA and lost 4. The People that project Comp picks ( and have been almost 100% right on them ) have the Hawks getting 0 comp picks as of right now in the Next draft. Also here read this.

Seattle Seahawks unlikely to receive compensatory picks in 2019

Don't count on ANY comp picks, big oof. So again they got 4 and most likely will be able to pick up one more by trading out of the first.

I understand how comp picks work, I'm just not agreeing that the Seahawks are being counted as signing quality free agents to offset the players they lost. I don't look at the signings of Mingo, Fluker and Brown as being significant signings in comparison to the losses of Graham, Richardson and Richardson (as far as comp picks go). NFL may agree or disagree in the end - but it's not like I didn't account for the Seahawks signings in FA.

it only has to be qualifying FA that count, it's never been 100% skill vs skill. Again there is a group out there that has predicted at like a 97% correct rate and they have the Hawks getting zero. tough luck for us but thats how it goes.

With the Seahawks no longer able to hurt or help their chances of receiving compensatory picks for the 2019 draft, it's pretty simple to figure out where they stand on adding some extra draft capital through 2018 free agency. They won't. Even without help from the experts, it's plain to see that the Seahawks added more actual free agents than they lost. Trading Michael Bennett, releasing Richard Sherman, Jeremy Lane, and DeShawn Shead and letting Thomas Rawls lapse into free agency creates the illusion of greater free agent movement but none of those players actually factor into the equation even though they'll all play for different teams in 2018. Well, Lane still hasn't found work but he's likely to play with another team.

Could be true - would be the first prediction I got wrong.

I understand what we wouldn't get any comp consideration for players we cut or traded, but why not Rawls if he left as a FA?

Thomas Rawls was a RESTRICTED free agent. A Restricted Free agent can negotiate with other teams, but original team has option to match any deal. The team will not receive any compensation if it opts not to match another deal. The Hawks did not match.

Hawks are not getting any comp picks. Screamin nailed it. Quantity matters first (if you sign more than you lose no comp picks for you, 1 year).

Honest opinion of Janikowski? Serviceable at best and we need to move on from him after the season... Not attempting, at the very least, to get in front of the 49er returner on the kick off for a TD, is unacceptable imo... He literally looked like he was saying to him, "pardon me... Let me get out of your way"... If he would've just redirected him a little bit we contain would've got to him before he scored... That was just horrendous... That just showed me that he's just here to collect a paycheck... Does he think 'effort' is not part of his job description? Had to have been the laziest play/attempt by any player this year... "Creampuff" should be his new nickname... All this followed the missed xp simultaneously.... You'd think after you missed the XP, you'd try to make sure their guy doesn't score on a return... That entire sequence told me all I need to know about Jan... And that is move on immediately once the season concludes...

“I wish he would have tried anything,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. “The first thing a kicker has to do is get the guy to turn back into the field. He got that done. But anything, we’ll take anything because it wound up being a touchdown. We could do more, and so he feels bad about that.”

He's fat, and should be required to kick field goals with a cigarette in his mouth

It was really windy (swirling) early in the game when he missed the PAT. I don't know if that's why he missed it, but it definitely made kicking more of a challenge. I don't care at all really about the KO. He's not here to make tackles. He made the guy go back inside, which is pretty much his job in that situation. The optics weren't great, but the other 10 guys on the field that play did more wrong.

Agreed on the KO. Kickers are tough to find (as we all know) and the last thing we need before the playoffs is SeaBass getting hurt making a tackle.

The missed XP, I'm a little less forgiving of. Windy or not, that should be a gimme. Granted, he hadn't missed one prior to that, so I suppose he gets a pass, but that was a costly one to miss*.

*Side note: I hate the extended XP rule. That's just what the NFL needs - more games decided by kickers.

Didn't expect him to make the tackle, just expected him to make sure the guy didn't have a straight path to the endzone... Not going to use the, it's too windy excuse... They had to play in the same field conditions as we did... Their kicker didn't miss a kick... Gould was 6/6 with his kicks that day... Seabass was 3/4...

I'm pretty certain if that was Dickinson out there, that KR wouldn't had scored a TD.. Even Pete Carroll said of Seabass, "I wish he would have tried anything"... I take that as he was disappointed that there was no effort at all... I've never seen that from any kicker in that situation so he's not going to get a pass from me... Just a lazy effort is what it was... Heck, he out weighed the returner by 80 lbs...

Well, I do believe he missed 2 XPs before that -- both against SF (one blocked) -- but I'm just saying the conditions in that stadium that day (especially early) were not good for kicking....just my observation from being at the game.

I hate the new XP as well. I have no idea why the league would want more games impacted by kickers. If they think the old one was a waste of time, then just make it 7 points (unless you want to go for 2) and head to commercial. The star of the show should be the 80 yard TD drive to tie the game, not whether a specialist makes a kick.

Right, Seabass missed a kick. On the opposite end of the field where Gould had to kick his after the KO ret. After that, the wind calmed down when the rain picked up. Neither kicker missed from that point. I was sitting in the stadium. The end Seabass missed had the swirling winds, and the other one was much better. Elements matter.

Dickson.
