But I watched him play!He was drafted out of Wisconsin though. Had some time to improve his stock (and still lasted until the 3rd round). Teams were critical of his size.

NC State and then Wisconsin. Completely different coaches and systems.Russell Wilson?
OK?NC State and then Wisconsin. Completely different coaches and systems.
You can get TE’s in any round and this draft is loaded with them. Last TE taken that high is Pitts and it is turning to shit. Even if he is a blue chip, it would stupid for any team with multiple needs.Bowers is often mentioned as blue chip as well, but TE that early is a tough call.
It’s all depends on what they think of Fields and do they think Caleb is a huge step forward. That team clearly has more needs than just QB but they do seem to be playing better. The Falcons clearly need to make a move at QB, but currently being at the #10 slot would make it tough to move up for one of the top 2. Non-QB teams aren't going to trade down away from Harrison without a strong offer (although I do think Nabers is a very solid prospect in his own right). A Fields to the Falcons trade seems the more affordable route. I suppose Kyler could also be potentially available, but much more expensive and not a very robust option for a Falcons team that loves to run.
Fields to the Falcons, Bears take Caleb (and Nabers?)...could be interesting. Of course, Bears could also trade out of #1 for a haul of picks and continue to build early in the draft this year and next, like they did in the last draft.
What will the Bears do is going to be the story leading up to the draft. With 2 first and both very high picks and a lot of cap space they have several moves they could make,. What they decide about the QB position is going to be huge. They could trade their highest pick for a ransom of picks and players and stock their roster around Fields or they could even take a QB with their second first after trading their first first to have some insurance at QB and draft capitol and cap space. They are in a sweet spot but a lot riding on their choices. It’s all depends on what they think of Fields and do they think Caleb is a huge step forward. That team clearly has more needs than just QB but they do seem to be playing better.
I wouldn’t give up on Fields. He needs the right coach and scheme to be a weapon. It’s all depends on what they think of Fields and do they think Caleb is a huge step forward. That team clearly has more needs than just QB but they do seem to be playing better.
