Honestly, only Dan Bailey was worth picking up and there isn't much of anything else. I suspect the FO drafts the best FG kicker next draft.

Gay, Blankenship, in the 5th?

to be honest not sure i would trust either of those two guys, still hope they go after Jon Brown. Forbath is still out there.

Lol if Cleveland had a better kicker they would be 2-0 wouldn't they? We might be 1-1

I'm meh on Jon Brown cause he's pretty much a rookie even though he's been in the league for a couple of years. Forbath is an idea. We wouldn't be talking about this if Haush was resigned.

Age is pretty well a non-issue with a kicker. Seabass isn't even one of the 3 oldest in the NFL. Just the other day you had 45 year old Adam Vinatieri easily nail a 57 yarder. He's also been "fat" his whole career (still listed at the same 260 he weighed at the combine 18 years ago), so I'm not sure that matters either.

He'll be in the "good enough" category. He won't be an all pro, but he'll be well north of what we had last year. His leg is still very strong (and probably will be for several more years), so I think his kickoffs are going to be deep on a consistent basis.

If I do have a reservation or reason for doubt, it's because he only hit 83% of his FGs in 2016. That number was pulled down by only converting on 3 of 8 from 50+ (he was 10 of 11 on 40-49 and 6/6 on the 30s), but maybe Oakland was having him try low percentage long kicks because of his big leg. Kicking off that crappy field in Oakland probably didn't help either. If he goes the whole season missing only 1 or 2 kicks of less than 50 yards, I think we'll be very happy with that.

Still 5 games left, but this is about what we are getting -- he's missed 2 kicks < 50 yards, hit 3/5 over 50, and he's perfect on XPs. Kickoffs are mostly not returned. I would say right now he easily gets a passing grade, maybe a B or B+. Certainly a jump up from what we had last year.

Agree, SeaBass has earned his check IMO. Let's hope he continues his roll and if we make the playoffs, his experience should be a plus.

My memory may be faulty, but wasn't Walsh pretty solid till the last four or five games?

Week 8, vs. Redskins. 9/16 over the final 9 games.

He gets an A+ over Walsh at this point. Lets hope he can keep this up.

Yep The old man has did himself well this season. I give him credit as his 78.9% FG make rate is, wait, ok thats not good. But He has not cost the Hawks more than 1 game so there is that. His Kicks have not cost them more than 1 game? wow then again had he made a few more they hawks could have won games with TD not tied them but thats ok because they never got that chance because Russell was choking in those situations for a little bit.

He kicked the game winner this weekend so you all can feel good with that 78.9% FG make rate. He is tied for 23rd in the league ( nope not good enough ). Succop a player they could have had is kicking at 85.7% making 18-21 kicks and 3-4 from 50+. Thankfully they didn't grab Dan Baily though OOF!

Seabass is a career 80% FG kicker with a strong leg when the average FG kicker is 82% and most have a leg that can kick it as far as his.

Hope you all knocked on wood because there are 5 games left and he very well could go something like 6-10 in those games. That puts him right there with Walsh

Yes but his name was, "Walsh"... Not, "Seabass"... Doesn't mean the same thing will happen to Seabass...

78.9% with all kicks poured into the bucket. He's missed 2 under 50. In 11 games, I'll take that. It's not Gostkowski or Tucker or Vinatieri in his prime, but it's certainly acceptable. He's 3/5 on 50+, and I believe at least 1 of those was a situation at the end of the first half where we were out of time and had no other choice but go for a really long one. Perfect on XPs.

So compare all that to what "some" people expected out of him, and I think he's done a solid job. Not amazing, but pretty good.

Hope you all knocked on wood because there are 5 games left and he very well could go something like 6-10 in those games. That puts him right there with Walsh
The very first thing I said in yesterday's post that revived this thread was that there are still 5 games left.

Of course. That sword cuts both ways though. Logically it doesn't mean it won't either.

Unless there's just an incredibly weak group next year, I don't see us not drafting a kicker.

i would not expect them to waste a pick on a kicker when they only have 4 picks lol. I can see them bringing in a few kickers for competition though and thats a no brainer. They do that every year.

Agreed. I can't see a scenario in which they draft a kicker this coming draft. Granted, I didn't see them drafting a punter this past one - so.....

Does anyone really think we'll only have 4 picks in the draft??

Yup. When is the last time we picked in our original 1st round spot?

This year. We took Penny in the first round. But your point is still basically true. Usually we trade out of the first round for more picks.

Yeah, but they traded down to get him (to get more picks). I meant the last time they picked in the actual spot they started in. I honestly can't remember...

Edit: Went back to check... it was James Carpenter in 2011, at pick 25 (coming off the 7-9 playoff season). Wow. It's been 7 years since they've made their intended 1st round pick. Safe to say, the Seahawks will likely end up with a few extra picks next year, per usual.
