Here is my honest thoughts on him, he has a huge leg i mean massive as in FAT but the power is not what it was back in 1984 when he was drafted ( lol ). Ok so it wasn't 1984 but it sure as heck feels like it. I want to see a young STRONG leg back there from a athletic player not some 300 pound 50 year old that runs the 40 timed with a hour glass.

I think we drop 2 games because of Janikowski misses. Better than the what? 3 we lost because of Walsh last season.

Just my Honest opinion no one asked for.

So let me hear yours.

Also lets add the punter in here. Whats your thoughts on Dickson?
I was right to hold off on judgement from his first game. The PR's didn't have really any issues fielding his kicks in the last game so there is no bad mojo on his balls lol. He does have a massive leg though and he even coffin corner kicks something we have not seen in a long time. Future probowler i think as a punter.

I think Janikowski can still get it done. But if he cant, Seahawks should go after the guy that the Bengals will be cutting, John Brown. Dude hit a 55-yarder this weekend, looks like a good get for a team that needs a kicker

Not only did he hit that 55 yarder but it would have made it from 60. Good call on that and lets hope the Hawks have been keeping an eye on him. I know they want to get the kicker/holder thing going in time for the season so if it happens that he is cut i hope it's soon. that kick was dead perfect, right down the middle.

with a career FG% of a average to below average 80% i just don't trust him. Walsh has a career average of 82.3%. His only thing people raved about was his POWER not his accuracy. Very worried.

Age is pretty well a non-issue with a kicker. Seabass isn't even one of the 3 oldest in the NFL. Just the other day you had 45 year old Adam Vinatieri easily nail a 57 yarder. He's also been "fat" his whole career (still listed at the same 260 he weighed at the combine 18 years ago), so I'm not sure that matters either.

He'll be in the "good enough" category. He won't be an all pro, but he'll be well north of what we had last year. His leg is still very strong (and probably will be for several more years), so I think his kickoffs are going to be deep on a consistent basis.

If I do have a reservation or reason for doubt, it's because he only hit 83% of his FGs in 2016. That number was pulled down by only converting on 3 of 8 from 50+ (he was 10 of 11 on 40-49 and 6/6 on the 30s), but maybe Oakland was having him try low percentage long kicks because of his big leg. Kicking off that crappy field in Oakland probably didn't help either. If he goes the whole season missing only 1 or 2 kicks of less than 50 yards, I think we'll be very happy with that.

Fat does matter in this regard; injury. The torque on his hamstrings, ligaments, ankles etc have to be off the charts. He's getting up there.

Yeah no joke and being 100 years old like you said ( getting up there ) and fat ..... i don't have much faith in him and his FG% that is LOWER than Walsh's career FG% LMAO.

Should have just forked over the money for Hauschka who is #4 on the all time career FG%, sure he had a down season but everyone does every once in a while, you don't panic and over react unless it's a COMMON theme like it was for Walsh. Him Sucking was something we have seen almost his whole career as far as FG% and FatiCOWski is worse.

Seabass >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Walsh

yes he is better but not >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> better lol. All though his CAREER FG% is pretty low at 80.4% where is Walsh is at 82.3% From range his is better because he has/had the leg to get it there. Now lets not get this wrong Walsh's FG% last season was 72% that is just out right awful. I would take a 80% over that because of the +2 on FG made. We all know with a couple made FG's last season the Hawks were an 11 win team.

Like i said when i started this thread, Janikowski is better than Walsh because he i feel wont cost us as many games. Made FG's now "might" be a different story, he does not have a sniper leg, Fact is it's less accurate than Walsh's for his career :/ . That one 48 yarder Walsh missed short against the Cards was a killer and Seabass makes that kick, i have no doubts there.

Of course we wouldn't be having this discussion if the FO just signed Haush.

People wanna talk career FG%? 82% vs 80%

Blair Walsh - FG Attempts: 187
Seabass - FG Attempts: 515

Do you get how career percentages work?

Walsh was abysmal last year, a large chunk of his career, and Seabass has more than 2x as many attempts in his career. He is simply more reliable than Blair Walsh is.

Sure, there will be a couple misses this season (as there will be for every team,) but right now, Janikowski is a MUCH better option than we had last season.

Seabass is a career 85% guy on FGs under 50 yards. He's 55% beyond 50. If we are going for a 58 yarder on the last play of the 1st half, is there really some great anxiety if he doesn't hit it? His career numbers say he'll be pretty reliable on normal game situation kicks.

In each of the last 2 seasons we attempted only 1 FG of 50+. On FGs < 50, Walsh was only 75% (21/28). Unless Seabass performs way under his career averages, we're going to improve in the kicking game by a large margin this year.

Lets hope so, but there are better option out there. Also lets not kid ourselves SeaBass is old and has not kicked a FG in a game for a LONG time. If he kicks at his Average then he is a upgrade but most kickers average goes DOWN the older they get. Just remember he has been active kicking for 17 seasons and 9 of those seasons his FG% was at 80% or BELOW.

Lets hope he is closer to his Best Season ( 91% ) than his worst season ( 66% )
