You test positive. Team wins taken away.

If MLB really wants to get rid of PED's then how about start taking away wins and championships after the test shows to be positive. If a guy takes a test in May and in July / August it shows the test to be positive, then take away all wins that he played in during that time frame. I don't know how long it takes between actually test and actually reading of the test, though.

That puts more pressure on the player. He tests positive and wins taken away, you think other teams are going to sign him and take that chance? I realize by doing so you would be punishing those who are not juicing, but IMO that puts more pressure to think twice about doing so..

Just a thought.

Of course. But, if they are not part of the problem or issue, why should they pay a price? By this train of thought, we would all be made to be "our brothers keepers", and I myself don't want to spend any part of my life spying and ratting on people. I could be wrong, but I do not think I would be alone in feeling this.

Better solution...

Do not allow the team to replace the player on the 25.

If the player is on the 25 or the 15 at the time of the test, then the team loses a 25 spot for the entirety of the suspension or until the player's contract expires. Whichever comes first. If the player is on the 40, the team loses a 40 spot.
