I thought he would get $16M and it was looking like $20M/year the way he played this past year but it is the 6 years that is kinda shocking. I think he can be great or very good for 3-4 more years though. Just depends on how healthy he stays

They are going after Mack too, that would be a very solid OL and they already have an amazing DL if they stay healthy but Mack 35 and Williams 33...solid either way

Big money but not really a surprise.

Have to see how it breaks down because we all know how NFL contracts are and I doubt they'll be paying him top dollar to play at age 39 and my pure speculation is it's probably something like a 4 year deal with the last two being years were they can cut him without much of a cap hit.
Wow. I hope the details look better than the headline for SF and this must an include an out after 2 or 4 years...$23M per year for a guy who will be 33 when the season start? I admit I giggled a little when I read that :suds:

The TW/49er deal basically amounts to a three-year, $60.75 million contract - with around $6M against the cap this year.

Very good deal for the team.

Yep, that's a good deal. 3yrs at 20.25M/yr. Then the team has an option to continue the deal for the last 3 years at 25.77M/yr or cut him without a net cap loss.

For a 33 yo who has missed 2,3,6,4 and 2 games his last five seasons "played" and completely sat out another due to a contract dispute...good luck...

He was PFF #1 LT last season.

Yeah you're not exactly comfortable giving him that kind of money but if you don't have a viable option to replace him than you just have to hold your nose and take that plunge since that position is one of the most valuable positions in football.

Especially the situation the 9ers were looking at where they needed a C (they have Mack now), RG, and they are crossing their fingers their RT can have a bounce back season. Adding a need for LT on top of all of that would've been a lot of pieces that needed to be replaced and upgraded all in one offseason.
