June of this year. When was the last time that play was called in the regular season?
Then our opinions differ, because watching the replay he was running where he was suppose to approaching the bag ... I feel the ump made a bad call thinking the runner interfered with the throw because it was such a bad throw that actually hit runner....
ive only ever seen it called on a bunt....When was the last time that play was called in the regular season?
The alley is also clearly shown in these pictures. He's supposed to be between the foul line and the second white line. He never got to the foul territory side of the line.View attachment 221381

He was inside the baseline the entire way to first base.
My understanding is that it doesn’t matter if it was intentional or not and that it doesn’t matter if it’s a bad throw or good throw.

Dude, they do this all the time, go watch every runner running to first, this is not unusual, the ump wouldn’t have called a thing had the throw been good, it would have been a normal play ... It looked like interference which is why he made the call, but it wasn’t ...
2430 games this year.
Because the play isn’t interfered with often. It’s a bad rule and bad design to not have the double bag.
It's not called because it rarely happens.2430 games this year.
approx 22k innings.
approx 130k outs.
but you found ONE instance of this getting called.
I agree that it was probably called accurately based on the rule. But it is a rule that is NEVER called. Similar to not giving a batter 1st base on a HBP because he didn’t make an effort to avoid the pitch.
My point (and I suspect most others’ as well) is that you can’t make a call in the World Series that is not called in the regular season.
It's not called because it rarely happens.
If anything, I'm impressed that they called it correctly in that situation, for that reason. Shows how well the umpires know the rules.
