I missed the controversial call, fell asleep after beer and mac dinner. Gotta see the replay. Looks like game 7 is on.

It’s a tough call, but I don’t think going with Scherzer is the right move to close this out, I realize their is no tomorrow, but starting Scherzer in game 7 is huge! I realize If they blow this lead their is no game 7, but dam, you want your best pitcher in game 7 ....

They do that all the time, nothing unusual... His final approach was fine he didn’t interfere
He was outside the alley the whole way to first.

It usually doesn't matter, because very few plays involve the alley.

This one did.

If he was in the alley, and his leg got in the way while he was reaching for the bag, it's not interference. Literally nothing outside of maybe his right arm was in the alley.

It's bizarre to see this called, but it was 100% correct. He was never in the alley.

6.05(k):
In running the last half of the distance from home base to first base, while the ball is being fielded, he runs outside (to the right of) the three-foot line, or
inside (to the left of) the foul line, and in the umpire’s judgment in so doing interferes with the fielder taking the throw at first base, in which case the ball is
dead; except that he may run outside (to the right of) the three-foot line or inside (to the left of) the foul line to avoid a fielder attempting to field a batted ball;

That was a critical call dude, it’s the World Series, CRITICAL call

Comment had more to do with that strike 3 call that was a couple of inches off the plate that just happened before I posted. Guy yelled "no way". Point is that the players have the umps in their heads right now. Nice to have a built in excuse for failure (even if it was a ball), but at this point everybody should be aware that they're extending the zone out an inch or two.

It’s not unusual, but it’s very unusual for the runner to actually be in the way of a throw while inside the first base line. But he was and they have to make the correct call.

I've been hearing about protests since I was a kid. I don't know of one that worked.
The Phillies had one upheld against the Mets, that wound up not mattering because they won the game anyway.

Umpires gave David Wright a home run after seeing an in-stadium replay before replay review was allowed.

Also, i'm pretty sure the Pine Tar Bat game was replayed after a successful protest.

Yeah I stand corrected in that sit. But yeah he had to adjust when it’s bad. I fucked hated those too, it always seemed like my pitcher would fling it at the back of the dudes head and put me in a shit situation trying to catch the back around his face.
Zimmerman just did the same thing on that throw by Rendon, almost cost them an out.

He wasn’t in the way of the throw, he was within the line on his approach, ball was thrown bad, that’s not the runner fault ..

He was not in the alley.

He was not outside the alley because he was avoiding a fielder.

Straight line is irrelevant. If he's outside of the alley, he's at risk of being called for interference.

its not the runners fault it was a bad throw. It’s the runners fault he wasn’t running where he was supposed to be.

Good rule or bad rule, it doesn’t matter. The ump can’t turn a blind eye to the rule book because of a bad throw.

The announcers are as uneducated as the general population. Dan is correct, announcers aren’t going off of rules and are instead just thinking that common sense takes precedence.

If the catcher was throwing it from home plate I’d have no problem with the call.....

You need to watch the replay again, runner was within in the rules ... Ump called it because it looks like he interfered from the bad throw...
