While I don't disagree with the "Russ is playing better this season" sentiment, I put an asterisk on it

The big difference this season when compared to last season is Sean Payton .. and while Russ has had more success in 2023, I can't get excited that he's "improving"

With Nathaniel Hackett, as far as Russ struggling, there was always the thought that poor coaching, play calling, scheming, etc was holding Russ back .. and that is obviously true .... If Hackett was still the HC, I don't see Russ taking the step forward he has under Payton ..

While this might seem like nitpicking, I don't think it is

Last season, there was hope for Russ because of Hackett being in way over his head ... This season, I feel, we have seen Russ' ceiling

Put Russ with Andy Reid or Mike McDaniel, and I don't see him being any better than he is now, under Sean Payton ... Perhaps with some super talent around him, Russ might appear better - but that doesn't make him "better" ..

So give Russ Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, Justin Jefferson - or Sean Payton - and Russ' stats improve, but does he really getting any "better" ??

You could make the argument that putting Drew Lock in with Payton, Kelce, Hill, etc would make him better, too

My point is one that has, I suppose, been made here already

Russ was brought here and is being paid for being THE guy, the one who elevates everyone around him ... Not just a guy who benefits from a HOF HC and the notion that he needs an all world OL and teammates on offense ...

This is wild speculation, but I think we'd be at least 1-5 had Stidham started the season ...

It's not so much Russ, it is his contract, and how that trickles down as far as personnel , and how he might be holding the team back as far as the future

Vance is our biggest problem . We can win still this season but I don't see a reasons to do it now. Keep Vance..

Uhhhhh Have you been oblivious to social media and the media in general? Lots of people are calling him the problem.

I'm just throwing the stats out there. I think people are unfair to Russ this year... While I don't think he is the same Russ and he hasn't been clutch for us in clutch moments this year he still has been WAY better then last year under Payton.

Denver is probably actually a better team then people realize they just can't find ways to win close games like last year. Defensively we have gotten better and we will see we continue to get better or what times of adjustments going forward are made. However, it is encouraging that the D has made adjustments to get better (we need to see more though) Time will tell. I just don't think we will be in the Caleb sweepstakes like everyone else thinks.. If we are cool because I like him that much but I don't see it happening.
