Well, Frank Vogel led them to a title. So, there was that.

Actually out all of them - They let go the best of the lot - Where they went wrong was not picking up Tyrone Lue - The Lakers picked up some good players two years ago in that trade from Utah - Then let the better ones go - Too many trades every year - They need to time to build chemistry - I understand that the Lakers are still paying for the Russell fiasco - but then it feels like to me that they also have a huge mistake on the books. They get rid of the last big one and then create a brand new one.

They wanted the wrong player and they also keep getting one year rentals

Every team has it's share of 1 year rentals. Players who are trying to get a better deal for themselves (like Dennis Schroder) or guys trying to get a title run (like Dwight) will sign 1 year deals, then move on. Teams like the Lakers who are up against the cap will sign them because they can help them win.

Problem is, as with Schroder, the team may want to keep them, but the player gets offered a bigger deal and signs with that team.

I know that Davis isnt that old - but his body is more like 36 - and his knees have seen their best days - He has played okay this year, but The Lakers aren't that good and they aren't going anywhere-

AD has played at a near MVP level this year. The Lakers need to get Vando back. He will help with their perimeter defense (which is terrible). Getting DFS helps, but they need Vando back as well. They also need a center who can defend the paint. That frees AD up to assist with defending the perimeter as well.

If AD played at the Power Forward Position - and they had a legitimate center - They would be far better - Zubac - He was a decent center - and the Lakers let him go - Works hard and does all of the little things that Lebon and Davis need.

Yeah unfortunately, he kind of fired himself. He was adamantly against the Westbrook trade, which was fine, but he basically refused to coach him or even try very hard to find a way to make it work.

Where they went wrong was not picking up Tyrone Lue

Agree 100%. They screwed the pooch by lowballing him.

Got to admit - I think more highly of Lue as a coach then I did before - He took the Clippers which was a mess and made them a better team - If The Lakers had him - and the Lakers listened to him - they would be in better shape. I think he could have made Westbrick, Harden the ballhog and Lebron with Ad working together -

True...having big Zu would be great, but if memory serves, moving him was part of how they got AD. AD prefers playing the 4, so getting a center would be ideal.

It wouldn't make them favorites, but they would have a pretty solid punchers chance if they get to the playoffs healthy.

What Lue has done with the Clippers has been remarkable considering how little they had Kawhi and PG available. He was able to find a way to make Westbrook at least serviceable, which would have been a big improvement over what the Lakers got out of him.

Zubac wasn't a scoring machine -but his size, strength and length enables him to do what you need - seven foot blocking the basket and making it easier for Lebron and Davis. - With him - They wouldn't have been desparate for Westbrick or Hardon. Both though were still better than Kwame Brown- lmao

Yeah, but as I said above, if they still had Zubac, they wouldn't have AD. I am a big Zu fan, but I'd rather have AD.

I was going to say that Lue took a bucket of turds and turned them into a decent team - Fortunately - The Clippers are still cursed and won't ever win because Brick and Hard are too far gone to be relevant -I never did like Paul George and Leonard - and argued strong that year that Lebron and Davis was a better combo -and if healthy - still would be - But Davis is old before his time and Lebron is old enough to be a grand father

And yet, AD is playing at a near MVP level and Lebron is playing at an all star level. They are not the problem (as long as they don't try to play GM again. lol).

Like I said before - The coaching wasn't the problem for the Lakers although they made a lot of bad choices- The problem is the choices for the coaches and combination of players - they let good ones slip and hire inexperienced coaches go - It's like having a Porsche - and then putting on Volkswagon parts on it- Now they have to make another miracle trade next month and hope to get lucking - Then in June they will lose them all over again. Still - The Lakers did get a champion in the last five years - Once every five years is not a terrible record really
