I hate knee jerk reactions.....
Lou Lamoriello will assume the responsibilities of General Manager and begin the process to find a new Head Coach.
Maybe AV moves from Broadway to Long Island?
Cesspool (kevin woodley) saying trotz will go to the isles
His contract up?
Woodley was saying “many” feel Trotz will “drop the mic” and walk if caps win the cup as he was not happy the caps didnt extend his contract last offseason
Garth Snow's plan!
Would he folly for caps to let him go.. but it would probably be more so if they didn't start a rebuild if they win it all
I hope Lou goes with a journeyman retread like Ron Wilson, Mario Tremblay or Tom Reney.
Let's bog down the Long Island Expressway with crap trap no good schemes.
No no, we don't want the Islanders to improve.
I think the Devils should offer Taylor Hall for Johnny Boychuk.
So this Chris Johnston fella figures that Trotz wouldn't even try to defend a cup title??
(corrected later because Johnsson was Nonis, not Burke)
but yeah, other that Matthews (no brainer) and Anderson I guess, that's a whole lotta meh
I don't think any GM in Leafs history will be forgotten as quickly as Lou.
There was some good – I think getting Andersen was a good move and they didn’t give up much to do so. Dumping Phaneuf on the Snes was comical. But then using that saved money on Marleau and the inexplicable Zaitsev contract pretty much negated any benefit. Other than Andy though, none of this really made a long-term impact on the team.
He and Hunter also made for a pretty shitty scouting/drafting team. Other than Liljegren (and Matthews, obviously) the only guys they took that seem like they might make a dent in the NHL are Grundstrom and Rasanen. That’s pretty bad considering the Leafs had 7 picks in the first 3 rounds of his drafts (not to mention the two second round picks he traded away for 4th line centres at the deadline who didn’t do anything).
I suppose the nicest thing I can say is he didn’t torpedo the process. If that’s what the outcome is with the Islanders maybe they’ll be alright.
Oh I don't think that is a good deal at all.
fwiw ferraro was in the cesspool and said its more likely trotz will leave than stay
Too much water under the bridge on the contract thing. Bizarre that 2 assistant coaches got contract extensions and trotz and lane lambert didnt
One of the assistants that got an extension, Todd Rierden could end up being trotz replacement allledgedly
Don't know that it's so bizarre. HC's always by default have the most pressure and assistants can be pried away by other teams so why not make it tougher for them to leave if you think they might be good successors?
If it hurts Trotz that much then he should go but he's been around long enough to know this is a business and he's not going to be given a 15 year leash like he was in Nashville anywhere else.
