Belmont Park selected as winning bid for new Isles arena...

The Islanders’ bid includes an 18,000-seat, year-round arena that would host 150 events annually as well as 435,000-square feet of space for retail, a hotel with 200 to 250 rooms and a 10,000-square foot “innovation center” that would be developed with resident input.

Do you mean in regards to public money being allocated to the new arena? Yeah, I can't seem to find any info on that either.
Article did say that Cuomo (the governor, not the Weezer guy) will be in attendance so I suppose they have something worked out.

if barclay had been a decent hockey stadium(they have a car in seats on the glass for fucks sake) do you think brooklyn would have worked or is this all on the fan base needing this team in long island. judging by the number of duis given out around nassau in the old days i would have thought the train into barclays wouldve been a godsend.....

Isn't Brooklyn on Long Island?

I think it was about the ownership group wanting a new/full arena that would make the team financially viable with luxury boxes, outside events, etc.

on the actual island yes....but technically queens and brooklyn are part of new york city and nassau county is where "long island" starts.

My wife and her friends are all from NJ/NYC and on more than one occasion I've mentioned that, technically, Brooklyn and Queens are on LI and gotten "wtf are you talking about?!" in response.

Once I ask where the bridge from Brooklyn to Long Island is is where the look of puzzlement and realization shows up (sometimes separated with the question "wait, where is the Throgs Neck?") lol.

Sv%'s since Dec. 1:

Jaro Halak: .904
Thomas Greiss: .835
Combined: .885

Isles are 5-11-2 in that span. Goaltending is going to cost them their captain at this rate.

I would trade Monahan + Brodie for Tavares. It likely isn't enough, though.
