At this point with both coordinator jobs open Washington has gone from fairly stable to open questions in their coaching ranks. That could worsen before it gets better because the new Head coach of the L.A.Rams is now making moves to fill his own coaching staff. In the meantime Washington's brain trust must decide to either hire from within or risk losing other valuable coaches. There has been much speculation from some about either promoting Bill Callahan or Matt Cavanaugh to Offensive Coordinator, while others are dead set in favor of hiring from the outside. So GM Scott Macloughan, team president Bruce Allen and company have been likely twice stung by the departure of McVay in that if the plan was to hire a new man they risk losing either Callahan or Cavanaugh. On the other hand, since it appears that they are now forced to promote from within rthey will also have to forego the outside guy that they had targeted.
