Why did 11 - 1 Alabama get picked over 12 - 1 Wisconsin?

OOOH — he built the 49ers as a LB coach, then as an interim coach for half a season, then as HC for 2 years. I now COMPLETELY understand. What I understand is, you are absolutely clueless how the NFL works, as is your sidekick, talking about PB alternates (the guys lined up 10-15 deep at every position so they can fill out the roster when guys who actually made it turn it down, because it is a joke)

FYI — Stafford made it as a QB as the 6th or 7th alternate in the NFC one year. So only 7 or 8 guys turned it down and there is only 16 QB’s total in the NFC.:pound:

I don't care who you want to give credit for building it. The point is the same, Harbaugh inherited a talented team and that is why he had success.

Meanwhile, Saban inherited a mess @ Miami.

But it's funny watching you pretend all things are equal while making broad sweeping statements.

So are you saying Saban is lying when he repeatedly talks about wanting a level playing field? Or are you saying Saban didn’t have equal opportunity at MSU?

OR are you saying EXACTLY what I have said all along — what makes Saban great is the SEC recruiting footprint.

I’m glad you FINALLY agree with me:suds:

So the only way there is an equal playing field in your opinion is if every team has the same amount of talent etc?

That's like saying the only way people are equal IRL is if everyone gets the same amount of money every year and nobody looks better than anyone else or is smarter etc.

Socialism works so good in real life we should implement it in to CFB too!

Dude, quit whining like a little weasel. You keep looking for excuses instead of improving your team. You want players from the south, hire asst coaches from the south. Hell,we beat you guys with a bunch of slow white guys from Wisconsin. Not a 5* to be seen. We get Rbs from New Jersey, DBs from Florida. Why? Better coaching.

Parse it any way you like, they had 8 guys selected to the 2014 Pro Bowl, which is enough talent to not go 8-8...unless you're Jimmy Jam.

When you don't win 10 games next year what will you Jimmy Jam apologists use as an excuse. No doubt, it will be...wait for it...."We're a year away".

You do realize they won 10 games the first two years already, right? If not, he can use the same excuse the Saban apologists use and say wait for year 5 and maybe we can win 9?

I agree KBurt — not a 5* to be seen on Wisconsin. You know what else Wisconsin will never see........a national title.

Once again we treat Michigan St and Michigan as being equal programs.

It's pretty damn awesome.

Are you serious right now? You literally are proving exactly what I’ve said from day 1. Saban is great........in the SEC.

If he were the best coach, why would he need the SEC? Shouldn’t he have been able to dominate regardless of school, like at MSU? OR.......he is a great coach when he has a blank check for recruiting, blank check for the football budget and is surrounded by the best recruiting footprint?

This is fun watching you try to talk yourself out of this one:pound:

Weird, because 2 pages ago you were just talking about how you weren't worried about Michigan St.

Yes, if only UM could someday compete for a division title. And you wonder why MSU will always be little brother.

It is just a matter of time before UM starts hammering MSU on a yearly basis and MSU fans know this too.

Yup, I saw he won 10 games with somebody else's recruits and 8 with his own...and the 8 wins came against shittier competition. You are of the opinion that he is going to get better with his own recruits, I am of the opinion that we have already seen the Jimmy Jam high water mark. The empirical evidence favors my position. Maybe Patterson can rescue y'alls season next year, or maybe Jimmy Jam will work his qb whisperer magic.

Level playing field means all teams have equal opportunity. Meaning everyone plays by the same rules. You know, what Saban was talking about to begin with as the SEC banned satelite camps. Also the reason why the SEC unbanned them - to create a level playing field.

But keep on taking his quote out of context and applying it to programs if you need I guess. It's not like anyone really expects more from you.

I guess to create a level playing field, we need to start creating handicaps to taking into account players with more talent.

The higher the talent pool, the more points you have to give up.

So from now on, all Alabama games will start with a score of Alabama 0, Opponent: 30.

Is that a "level playing field"?

30 would be about right for the last time we played an 8 win Michigan Team.

How is this a difficult concept for anyone who is American?

Sure he had a level playing field and equal opportunity at MSU - that's why he was able to beat #1 Ohio St multiple times.

Does that mean all programs are equal? Obviously not, they just have equal opportunity.

Kind of like we both have equal opportunity and equal rights. But I'm obviously better looking and smarter than you are.

Remains to be seen, but at least we ain't giving up because of the SEC footprint.

You’ve been playing football at Wisconsin for 128 years — it hasn’t happened and as much as it sucks to hear, it will never happen. You don’t get the type of recruits to win a NC.
