Lebron is 4-3 when he falls down 2-0 (series against Boston still in doubt for 5-3 or 4-4)
He fought back twice and got it to seven games and lost on the road.
Only once did Lebron go quietly to the 2007 Spurs

Meanwhile, Jordan never won a single series that he fell behind 2-0.
He fell behind 2-0 four times and won exactly 1 total game yet alone a series. He got swept the other 3 times meekly.

Lebron fights back and makes it interesting when faced with playoff adversity.
Jordan gives up and books a tee time anytime he faces a playoff deficit.

Michael Jordan never lost a playoff series when his team was favored. (He's 27-0)

LeBron has already lost 3 playoff series when his team was favored. (It will be 4 if he loses to Boston)

In order to complete this analysis, you need to post their records when they weren't favored.

My bet is that one will make LeBron look a lot better.

Winning a series where your team is favored is proof of nothing. The Bulls had the best team in the league for most of a decade.

Since the poster I originally quoted was talking playoff losses, I just wanted to point out the fact that Jordan never lost a playoff series he was supposed to win. (and that's something he should be given some credit for too)

LeBron, on the other hand, has lost a playoff series 3 times already (could be 4) when he was favored including that pathetic performance in the 2011 Finals where he was outscored by Jason Terry. His performance was so bad in that series it should disqualify him from any GOAT conversations, he was an embarrassment.

It's obvious a LeBron fanboy would wanna brush that aside and talk about Jordan losing as an 8th to the Celtics or some shit like that, LOL. But, you can't brush Jordan never losing as a favorite aside and at the same time, excuse LeBron for losing as a favorite multiple times including an NBA Finals where he was clearly a reason they lost.

Let's take another look at LeBron's pathetic performance in the 2011 Finals, his first season with the Heat right after he sat on stage like a clown and promised to win like 9 championships....

The epic 8 point game in game 4: (8 points!!!! LMAO)

The clutch 4th quarter performances: (not exactly GOAT material here..)

He couldn't even do anything against JJ Barea, LOL how:

And probably worst of all...getting outscored in the series by a 33 year old Jason Terry:

yeah.....THIS guy..

And they wanna say he's better than Jordan...

Who is the 7'1" or taller NBA Center in the league today who would be better than Wilt ?

I'd say Embiid has the potential to be because of his range. Need to see more than just the 1 good season though.

Ridiculous.

Ruling out a player's entire career based on a 6 game sample?

Yes it was on the big stage. Yes they should have won.

As for this year's Celtics? The Cavs were favored for one reason only. LeBron. Celtics have home court and the superior team. I don't care who Vegas picked, the only way this series loss will hurt LeBron is if he plays 2 more like game 1.

As for calling me a LeBron fan boy, I am no such thing. In fact, I defintely was a Jordan fan boy growing up. But one thing is for sure. No other player in the history of basketball transcends the entire league the way Jordan did and LeBron does. Those 2 stand alone at the top.

A modern NBA player with modern conditioning and training would absolutely dominate the league in much the same way that Wilt did.

If you took one of those bigs back to 1961 and a coach saw their athleticism and strength, then I think it is entirely possible that they would give that player 40 shots a game.

Would it have happened? Probably not.

Having said that, give Wilt today's training and conditioning programs and who the heck knows what he could do today?

And that's the problem with comparing eras. If you hot tub time machined today's players as they are, then of course they would dominate.

Back in Wilt's day, the belief was that weight training was detrimental for basketball players, so there was very little of it. The dangers of smoking weren't known, so a lot of players smoked. Many of those players also had to have regular jobs in the off-season, so they couldn't commit themselves to basketball year round like today's players.

If you put today's players back then with only what they had available to them as far as training, etc. Or brought players from back then into todays league with the same advances in training, etc. Players would likely perform about the same in either era. The greats would still be great, the good would still be good and the guys who suck would still suck.

You don't have to like a player in order to appreciate their greatness.

I think lebron is a cock-juggling thundercunt but still have him 4th all time

That's why you aren't a true hater. A true hater doesn't acknowledge a players greatness.

Obviously it doesn't rule out his entire career but you have to admit it's a pretty big mark on his career.

It doesn't matter why the Cavs are favored, the point is they are favored and it will never another bad loss for LeBron if he can't beat a team missing its two biggest stars.

Not for anybody who actually watches the series and recognizes how much LeBron has to do for this team to win a single game.

Completely agree. It's also why you have to look at stats relative to their era.

Stop with this poor LeBron bullshit, his team is favored and his opponent is missing its two biggest stars, stop making it out like he's playing the damn Dream Team or something. Like it or not, him losing to Boston is a negative mark on his career.

And why doesn't that same excuse apply to Jordan for his early playoff exits when he was carrying the whole team?

It does apply to Jordan. Both ways. His wins and his losses.

I have consistently said from day 1. Far too much emphasis is placed on team success in these debates. Here are a million things that go down in a series outside an individual player's control. It is utterly ridiculous to claim this as someone type of stain if he loses.

As for Boston's 2 best players, you sure about that? Kyrie and Hayward are their two biggest names, not sure they are the best players. Besides, it isn't like they both got hurt in game 1. Hayward has been out all season and Kyrie hasn't played in 6 weeks. The Celtics got to this point because they are a really good team with really good players and arguably the best coach in the league. Anybody who has watched the first 3 games knows that LeBron is hands down the best player in the series, but Boston probably has the next 4 or 5 best players. It isn't like they miss either star because they sure have not missed a beat without them.

Stop trying so hard to diminish one of the two best players of all time.

Pretty much everyone had the Cavs winning this series before it began then, after 2 games everyone wanted to change the narrative to Boston being the 'much better team' and LeBron having no chance, its bullshit. They were the favorites going in and should win this series.

LOL, I'm not even going to dignify that asinine statement about Kyrie and Gordon not being their best players, come one now, stop being ridiculous.

So stating facts about LeBron's career means I'm trying to diminish him? I already said he's the second best I've ever seen but if you wanna compare him to Jordan he can't have any stains like 2011 on his resume.

Yup you've definitely passed Dorian on here. Congrats. Kinda shocked @msgkings322 agreed on this one.

Anyone who would say Jordan ever gave up in a series is an absolute moron

If Jordan doesn't have to go through the Celtics and Pistons in the East AND doesn't play baseball for 2 years, does he have at least 9 rings?

We can play the IF game too & Lebron nutt slobbers will still lose

Yep. LeBron 'lost' the 2015 Finals but he should have been Finals MVP not Iguodala.
