I never said Russell was a 6 foot white guy. I said both played primarily in a tiny league against 6 foot white guys. The league was mainly small guys. Sure there were some big players but very few in height and weight compared to the last 20-30 years.

So just compare Russell when he played Wilt. Bill averaged 14 points / game ... and 23 rebounds / game vs. Wilt. (94 games)

Wilt averaged 30 & 28 vs. Russell.

FYI -- The average height of starting Center in the NBA is 6'10.8". In 1965, the average height of Center was 6'10.1". (so not much difference)

Right.. Do you have any idea what guys like Shaq/Lebron/Lebron/Kobe would do to the guys Wilt/Russll faced? and yes.. the majority of the league was tiny white guys.

You're a dumbass. You called Russell a 6 foot white guy. Here's what you said in comment # 643: Wilt played in an era of a bunch of 6 foot white guys like Bill Russell. You really are a special kinda stupid.

Then why didn't Kareem score 50ppg with 6 skyhooks a quarter?

To be fair, a 6 foot white guy named Bill Russell played shortstop for the Dodgers...maybe that's who he meant? :noidea:

Also, to be fair, it was a lot of 6'4" white guys.

I found a video of Wilt Chamberlain blocking Kareem's Sky Hook.

Apparently, Ralph Sampson and some dude named Poodle Willoughby blocked it as well..But Chamberlain was the only one who did it when Kareem was in his prime.

The first block looks legit but the second one looks close to a goaltending though, what do you guys think?

I agree it looks like it was on the way down.

Man, Kareem and Wilt used to go at it though, here's a short clip of them dunking on each other and the thing to remember here is that Wilt wasn't even in his prime anymore when he was facing Kareem.

Check out these blocks by Chamberlain, look how high he gets on some of them.

It's crazy how a guy that size can be so athletic, the guy was a freak of nature.

What's crazy is, he was also a very good track and field athlete (at that size). From Wikipedia:

He was a frail child, nearly dying of pneumonia in his early years and missing a whole year of school as a result.[10] In his early years Chamberlain was not interested in basketball, because he thought it was "a game for sissies".[11] Instead, he was an avid track and field athlete: as a youth, he high jumped 6 feet, 6 inches, ran the 440 yards in 49.0 seconds and the 880 yards in 1:58.3, put the shot 53 feet, 4 inches, and broad jumped 22 feet.

Somehow my previous post got wiped out. Pity.

Anyway, there were 4 players in the NBA in 1966 that were 7' tall. Only 1 of them was a starter.

There are over 30 players that are 7'0" or taller today.

Wilt was a athletic freak. And I'm sure he would do really well today. But he sure as hell wouldn't get 55 rebounds in a game.

Agreed, Wilt is definitely among the old school guys who would still be really good in today's game. But the crazy outlier stats like 55 rebounds or 100 points in a game wouldn't have happened.

That was also the era when teams raced up and down the court and shot midrange jumpers in 10 seconds or less. Pace was ridiculous and even some of the best players shot low 40s from the field. There were many rebounds to be had.

Russell would be basically Rony Seikaly if he played in the 80s-present. "Nuff Said. Though that could be a stretch since he basically average Rony Siekaly numbers back in the 60s when the league was shorrt. ROFLMAO

Stop comparing guys who played 50+ years ago to the last 20-30. Idiots

Russell would be lucky to see most All Star teams with those stats. The past 20-30 years. Bottom line

Yeah because it's not like he wasn't a great rebounder & shot blocker. But rebounding & shot blocking are overrated in today's NBA right troll, I mean dorian?

Wilt would be a solid 20ppg player today since the league has ran out of Centers mostly. Back in the 90s/2000s he would struggle since he will be facing guys bigger and heavier than him who can boss him around. He was pretty scrawny for his size.

Shaq/Hakeem/Dunkan etc. would dominate him. Though he would be a solid top 6-7 center today back then

Wilt has INFLATED stats because of when he played. Much like today where superstar perimeter can have inflated stats since you can't be physical with them or hand check them anymore

Rodman was an all time great rebounder (maybe the greatest) and maybe the GOAT interior defender, he didn't make any all-star teams that I can remember after that Pistons run
