I think the Big Ten's exclusion followed by its performance this bowl season proves that the current system doesn't work.

Either it goes to 8 teams, or there's a formal rule put in place that only conference champs can make the playoff.

Which is it gonna be? I'd actually favor the latter... make CCGs the quarterfinal.

8 Teams ... 5 P5 Conference Champs (seed 1-5) and 3 at large teams.
This year would have been (or should have been)

1. Clemson
2. Oklahoma
3. Georgia
4. ohio state
5. Southern Cal
6. Alabama
7. Wisconsin
8. Central Florida

But then everyone would be saying Penn St. got hosed and should be in. Where does it stop?

Still stops at 8. There will always be bitching. Personally, I'm more comfortable with the committee deciding which wildcard teams get in than with deciding which conference champion(s) to leave out.

With 8 ... win your conference and you're in ... don't don't bitch if you aren't picked!!

Hopefully never. The 4 correct teams were picked, and have been since the inception.

The 4 correct teams were picked, still should have been 8

The B1G does not perform as well if they had gotten a team in the playoff. Getting left out pushes all your teams down a level in competition. Your 2 best wins are against PAC teams USC and Washington (Washington didn't even win their division and a schedule as soft as Wisconsin).

The rest of the resume is made up of Boston College, Arizona, Kentucky, Wazsou. Even then if KY does not get their best player ejected for BS then NW loses. The B1G bowl record is a little misleading.

I don't even think this is correct, even if it mattered.

Ohio State, Wisconsin and Penn State would all have beaten USC, Washington or Miami. Put OSU or Wisconsin in the playoff, and USC or Miami just lose to a different B10 team, or play someone from a different conference.

Its fine the way it is. At most I would expand to 6. You would have each of the Power 5 Conference Champs and one "wild card". 8 is too damn many.

#4 Alabama didn't play in CCG

Which one doesn't belong?

The sad thing is that Alabama winning tonight won't prove they belong. They're getting an opportunity that they didn't earn. If they don't lose it's an injustice to the sport.

This shit will never stop. The people that want 8 teams, will bitch and want 12 teams, 2 years later. Then they will want 16 teams, then 24, then 32.

I love watching OU vs tOSU, Bama vs FSU, USC vs UT. If we go to 8 games, those go away

Actually you would get MORE of it. As the system is formatted now, 2 losses knocks you out completely at least 90% of the time. This DISCOURAGES risk taking. You open up to 6 or 8, you open the doors to BETTER competition and MORE revenue.

The team ranked 9th has less of gripe than the team ranked 5th or 6th. That's just a reality.
