yes, the team that outgained their opponent by 200 yards was insanely lucky to win. lol. Tech's lucky Miami only scored 25.
Not you, but many people say we were lucky to beat Michigan in 2015 and MSU outgaoned Michigan by 150 yards.

Except that it's not. What suggests that Ga Tech is better than a NW team that finished the year with a win over a ranked Pitt team? Is Ga Tech going to beat a single ranked team and win a bowl this year? What exactly has GT done that means anything? They got beaten by a pathetic joke of a Tennessee team, beat an FCS team, and then has 3 other win over conference foes with a combined 8-15. They're nothing.

Sure NW turned it around at the end of the year, and won a meaningless bowl game(which actually knocked Pitt from being ranked, so they finished with 0 ranked wins). At the time of the game NW was 1-2 with a loss to an FCS team.

And clearly they started slow and then got better as the year went on. I'll take it a step further and honestly wonder if GT is good enough to beat a team that's ranked regardless of where they finish. They've got 3 more chances and I don't see them finishing within 2 TDs in any of those games. Hell, it's not a guarantee they even make a bowl.

At the time of the game against Nebraska, NW was 69th in the Massey Composite and Ga. Tech was 36th at the time of the game against Miami. NW finished the regular season 44th, we'll see where Ga. Tech finishes this season, they are currently 28th.

So they lose and move up 8 spots. This is why the Massey is ridiculous.

EDIT: Oh I forgot, they just had a massive win over Wake Forest. Clearly that's enough to move them to 28th :rolleyes2:

Beating a top 35 team(which Wake Forest was prior to the game) by 2 TD's will have a positive impact on your ranking. If you think Massey is ridiculous, I'm not sure why you think any cpu metric should be used, but yet I've seen you reference Sagarin and computers in general earlier this year?

Honestly, look at the Massey rankings. Holy hell, that is a messed up list. michigan ranked ahead of USF. Ga Tech and Iowa in the top 30 while West Virginia isn't. Wow.

Whem Miami stops barely surviving against mediocre to bad teams, let me know.
This sounds remarkably like the 2002 OSU team barely getting by bad teams. All of the OSU fans said "good teams find ways to win" back then though.

I brought up Sagarin because his SOS rankings seem to be the most commonly referenced on here.

LOL Wake Forest being a top 35 team. Total votes received in either poll before the Ga Tech game? 0. Give me a break with this shit.

That team also had one of the most dominant defenses in the nation throughout the year. Miami isn't dominant in any way.

It's by 1 ranking, and Michigan would likely be favored against USF. As for WVU, they've played an awful schedule, and have lost to the 2 best teams they've played, and barely beat Baylor last week. They are all similar like teams.

Also - Massey is ridiculous because includes some of the absolute dumbest sets of rankings I've seen. For example, take a look at this guy:

NCAA Football Ratings - James R. England

Unless the game is at home, I don't know how this would be possible.

Wake was top 35 in Massey. Which I thought you would know since that's what we've been discussing the whole time.

And you said, OSU is undoubtedly a top 4 team in the computers or some shit, but now all the sudden you want to throw the computers under the bus? Doesn't make any sense.

I was saying they're top 4 in several of the computer rankings. Also, Wake being top 35 in Massey is yet another example of those composite rankings being retarded. Seriously, have you objectively looked at some of the rankings he includes? Go through and take a look. I posted England's. There are lots more that are just absurd.

Then what computer rankings do you want to use? Which ones are legit? I'd be curious to know?
I'm not a fan of using the composite rankings period. I've made it clear why I think that. When you include 100+ rankings, many of which are absolutely absurd, I can't get on board with it.

I'm coming around on your efficiency rankings a little after actually doing some looking into how it's created, but it's obviously got it's flaws when looking at it as an end all/be all.

I realize not all of them look good. And Wake WAS a top 35 team before they lost to Ga. Tech, they were 4-2, it's hardly ridiculous.
