That sounds like complete bullshit. I could certainly be wrong but I can't imagine that Lebron is willing to get some much needless shit by doing something like that.

I'm not buying it either unless he's staying, given the massive backlash from "The Decision" a few years back.

I agree, no way he uses it as an announcement unless he's staying in CLE.

But I've heard, the trailer will air at some point after the announcement and will simply incorporate/reference whatever he decides.

if thats the case and the Cavs hold onto Kevin Love and the rest in some ill-conceived attempt to get the 7th or 8th seed I will not be happy.

they already have a couple decent blocks- Sexton, Nance, Osman...MAYBE Clarkson.....just go for the bottom out and rebuild.

after 2 seasons they should be in pretty good shape.

Yeah, as much as I like to bash Gilbert, the Cavs rebuild was progressing pretty nicely before Lebron got homesick.

They already have a blueprint. No reason they can't follow that same blueprint to rebuild again.

Does the blueprint include getting 2 No. 1 overall picks again? :)

The Cavs, who drafted Alabama point guard Collin Sexton with the eighth overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft, have begun to behave as though they expect James to leave this offseason and are preparing for the future, per Windhorst.

“From the Kyrie [Irving] trade forward, a lot of the Cavs’ moves have been toward a post-LeBron future,” Windhorst said. “I don’t think LeBron was involved in their draft pick whatsoever. When Koby[Altman] says we’re in the player development business and not the championship winning business, that signals what they’re thinking LeBron is going to do.”

Windhorst added there are only three or four people who know what LeBron is thinking, and for the most part, they’re not talking to anyone.

James will surely not go to the Lakers unless LA is able to get Paul George or Kawhi Leonard. There’s also the possibility James could sign a one-plus-one deal to remain with the Cavs and enter free agency again in the summer of 2019.

Smart on the Cavs part, imo. Lebron refuses to let them know, so the smart move is to work as though he's not coming back.

Plus, he's closer to the ends of his career than the beginning, so if he does come back, you still have made some moves to help with the transition when he does ultimately leave or retire.

End of the day...we're all rooting for laundry. lol

True, but I also like watching the NBA in general.
The NBA package is my #1 form of entertainment by far during the season.

I thought Cavs were his hobby and money was never a factor according to some?

If James leaves, is it because Gilbert was cheap?

If he leaves, all of @WiggyRuss theories are up in flames ( like James jersey).

what you have always failed to understand is that getting under the cap is a strategy during a rebuild

do you know how the Cavs got Kyrie Irving?

they had cap space- and they rented that cap space out to the Clippers to get Baron Davis.

If they are over the cap and put together some expensive mediocre team that gets thrashed in the first round like your Heat--- then they never get Kyrie, they never get those additional draft picks, and LeBron never comes back

this is the part of the game that you do not have the mental capacity to understand apparently- or either you dont care to learn it.

if the Cavs dont have cap space- they cant take back 40+ million plus of Baron Davis- and never get the pick that becomes Kyrie.

I hope the Cavs slash the payroll to the bone and do the same thing---- say go to a team like the Suns- and say- HEY- we will take back Brandon Knights bad contract- but you have to give us a first rounder (just an example).

To me that seems smarter than being a mediocre team that is exceedingly expensive and cant win anything like your Heat.

Well duh. It’s not like they are good contracts or young players anyway. There is no reason for Love being there
thats for sure....

raze it all down to the ground except for a handfull of young guys.

by next year you will be under the cap if they play it right- unless they rent out their cap space for assets like they did to great success last time.

At least the Cavs protected themselves this time around.....3-4 years from now the Celtics and Sixers will be paying all those young players huge money- the ones they can keep. I mean- just look at Boston - you can pretty much only have 3 max guys--- lets assume thats Kyrie, HAyward and eventually Tatum--- you cant pay everyone- the Sixers will find that out as well.

If LeBron leaves- I think there will be 2 very lean years where they tank, slash it to the bone and rebuild (at least hopefully)- and then a year of development, maybe adding a fringe piece or two, kind of shaping the roster, and then they try and jump back into free agency with theyoung core---- and as i said- that probably just about coincides with the Sixers and Celtics getting prohibitively expensive (but still very very good).

I totally get it, thats why you get rid of players like Mike Miller when the Heat did.
Nothing to do with being cheap, as will once again be proven by James assuming he’s gone.

As far as the Cavs and all the losing, all the picks, without James it equated to nothing but a giant pile of trash.

absolutely.

Id hire Hinkie in a SECOND.

It works- thats how the NBA is incentivized.

You need stars to win in this league- in order to get stars you either need to attract them in free agency by building a team that they want to go to-- or you draft them.

If you draft them- you get the added benefit of having them basically in your control for 8 years IF you want to max them out- since no one turns down the max their restricted year.

You do exactly what Boston did, what Philly did, what the Cavs did, what OKC did to a certain extent, hell- even what the Lakers are doing.

tank- get a core of good young players on cost controlled deals- figure out which ones you like, which ones fit, which ones that dont, trade some of them- and then when you are ready to take that next step- go out and get someone in free agency.

The WORST thing to do is what the Heat did- have no star and sign a bunch of expensive mediocre free agents, trade away a ton of y our draft picks- and all of a sudden you are sitting there in cap hell, with a team that gets thrashed in the first round, with the least draft assets in the entire NBA. Pat Riley has basically written the book on how to run a team into the ground post- a big time player leaving.

Only if they promise to use them on prospects like Anthony Bennett...and there were actually 3 (Kyrie, Bennett, Wiggins).
just depends on the draft

id rather have the #10 pick in this last draft then the #1 pick in the Bennett draft which was HORRIBLE besides guys that were not that highly heralded like Giannis and Gobert.

like the Lakers with their 3 #2 picks--- didnt get those in the best of drafts......the Cavs in the Davis draft got #4 which was an okay draft- but the guy that was probably the highest on most boards- Harrison Barnes or Drummond would have been better picks then Waiters.

its great to get the #1 pick - but if you get it in the draft without a clear cut #1 impact guy like a Bargannani or Bogut or Bennett etc. etc. it doesnt really matter

when its AMAZING is when you get it in a draft with a guy like Davis, or Simmons or Towns or --- amazingly- LeBron. Even Kyrie was not a SLAM DUNK #1 overall in that draft because of his injury concerns.

honestly- this last draft was FUCKING LOADED. a guy like Miles Bridges goes in the late lotto......a guy like Mikal Bridges goes 10! unreal.
