would be surprised if the Marlins are as active as originally thought they just lost one of their star pitchers to TJS for what's left of this season and most if not all of 2023

Certainly agree. Savvy ,speed, base running ,strong arm, OBP to name a few.

Means very little to me if you hit .210. And that is coming from a guy who is pulling for him. Otherwise he is going to be a utility guy.

I would agree with just signing a FA SP this off-season but the crop looks thin and the prices, very high. IMO, could be wrong..

I wouldn’t mind trading for a guy like Zac Gallen or Tarik Skubal.

I would also prefer to sign Perez to an extension before the deadline. If he doesn’t, trade him. But prefer to extend him.

I think there’s room for resigning Perez and trading for a SP too.. with the way pitchers get injured and Dunning seemingly on the brink all the time.. doesn’t hurt to have enough.. I’d rather manage from an abundance rather than a deficit.

i think that if Perez isn't resigned by August 2nd and apparently there haven't been much in the way of talks, and we get an offer in a trade call that blows us away we take it. and that Detroit trade isn't tempting to me because they want a boatload of prospects for either.

I would love to get Alcantara. He turns 27 in September, has an ERA of 1.81 and a WAR of 5.5. Not a free agent until 2027 and at $56 mil for 5 years and a team option in 2027.

they lost Meyer for a long time and Castino is out until after the trade deadline after taking a line drive off his forehead so doubt, they would even consider trading one of their starting pitchers

Getting traded doesn't mean they won't make it to the big leagues though. What does one have to do with the other?

All I’m saying is that when you are trading for or away prospects the odds of them turning out to be an every day player is about 20%, nothing more, nothing less…
