Northern Illinois runs a solid program.

Or are we just talking about the big boys?

Texas A&M under Fran and Sherman consistently pulled in great recruits and struggled to break .500 for a decade. So far Sumlin is doing what he can to change that trend.

Shit for a decade FSU did the least with the most talent. Jeff Bowden is a douche.

Beyond that. I am not quite sure because there is not a perennial team that blows, but has all the things to be great. Every team has down periods. Just some longer than others.

But just for fun. OREGON! All of the chances and still can't win shit of importance. :boink:

Notre Dame does the least with most.

We pull in great recruits all the time, all the national recognition, all the resources possible and every year we either under perform, or get blown out in a BCS bowl.

Texas is a candidate. Looking forward to see if the new head man can change that.

Boise is a candidate for most with least. Now considering they have a new HC we also will see where they go.

N. Illinois deserves a most with least nod. Cincy, Baylor, and in certain instances Stanford. Academic handcuffs that do not hinder their on field results of late.

I will homer this one and say Iowa has a case for both. Some of Iowa's best years came when they were expected to be one of the least talented teams in the Big Ten and some of their worst years were when their top 25 recruiting class were seniors. Also, they had a lot of players drafted to NFL but were not big recruits (or not even recruited).

My vote as well. Top recruits turning into no one even drafted.

I would put Duke up there for Most with less currently. A lot of Mid Majors got better recruits than Duke did 4/5 years ago. Cutcliffe has done an amazing job.

I agree that Texas is top contender, but USC takes 1st prize for me. Go back and look at the number of 5 star player they got over the last 10 years and then compare it to their record.

I still say a lot of this is media hype. I'm just not so sure all these players are as good as Rivals, and others make them out to be. It just seems once a top program starts to recruit them, their star power goes up.

Ferentz?s NFL Draft clout continues to gather steam | Hawk Central

This is either one that puts an argument for more with less or less with more.

*****

In the last 8 NFL drafts, Iowa had 32 get picked. 13 of those were 3-star recruits and 13 were 2-star recruits (Rivals). 6 were 4-star recruits

******

The breakdown for the league’s schools since 2010, by total picks (first-round choice in parentheses):

Ohio State 23 (3)
Iowa 22 (3)
Wisconsin 21 (4)
Nebraska 19 (2)
Penn State 19 (1)
Illinois 16 (3)
Michigan 13 (2)
Michigan State 13 (1)
Purdue 7 (1)
Indiana 7 (0)
Northwestern 5 (0)
Minnesota 4 (0)

I vote for Clemson doing the least with the most. We are perennial under achievers; consistently mediocre.

I have a hard time picking Boise State and TCU. They did great in the past decade, but compared to schools their conference, they had a lot of talent. Once TCU joined the Big 12, they have not done much with what they have. When they were in with Idaho, New Mexico, NMSU, Wyoming, etc, then they dominated and won their few big games.

Teams like Baylor, Iowa, Cincinnati, Michigan State, and Stanford had recruiting classes that does not stack up among the top of their conference, but they still were able to compete against the top recruiting.

I actually enjoyed the success of Boise State and TCU during the BCS Era (especially when BSU was all about trick plays), but I have a hard time saying they did the most with the least when a large percentage of their wins were against teams with worse recruiting class.

Baylor and MSU have won just 1 outright title in the last 35 something years; they're not competing on a consistent level, nor are they doing more with less. 1 good year out of 35 years doesn't mean anything. Consistency is the key. Now, 10 years from now, we might be singing a different tune.

Simple:

Most with least -- Boise State (obviously)

Least with most -- Texas (obviously)
