He is really struggling something serious.

As of this post he is hitting .158 avg 0 HR 2 RBI with a .284 OBP.

2013:
1st half:
93 G 15 HR 44 RBI .293 BA .359 OBP

2nd half:
67 G 7 HR 25 RBI .212 BA .309 OBP

And it is not as if Seager is a better 1st half hitter. His 2012 first and second half splits are almost identical. This slump he is in goes all the way back to last year. What is the problem? Has he seriously regressed or is this something he can fight his way out of?

I think that Seager will come around. He has been a very good hitter the past two years. Not at all unusual for a good hitter to get off to a slow start.

He is just a microcosm of the team. I don't blame him.

Never thought of him more then #7 hitter in a decent lineup. In reality he has been an average hitter which is amazing fir this team. However like I mentioned in the other thread it's not an "it's early thing" anymore. He hasn't hit for awhile

That was sort of what inspired me to make this thread. I hadn't realized that Seager has been playing poorly since the ASB until you said that, and pulled up the splits.

I think that Seager is, or was a .270 20HR hitter which is more than a #7 in a decent lineup, but then again I'm a Mariners fan and it is difficult for me to understand what a decent lineup is.

I'm surprised you aren't getting jumped on for making this. Some fans believe your ignorant if you question Seagers batting despite the fact he is hitting somewhere around .200 since the all star break last year.

He has proven he can hit at the major league level, but this is more than just a slump. Many of his at-bats look as disjointed as Smoak's.

I wouldn't write him off at all, but he has to be a concern. Problem is who are we going to replace him, or anyone else not producing with?

This is looking more and more like another of Jack Z's teams and it's going to be a long summer.

I'll cheers to that. :suds:

It could just be me looking at the glass half empty. It's hard not to watching this team which makes my posts more negative then they should be at times.

Seagar didn't hit worth a shit in Spring Training either. Hard to say what is going on with him. It isn't physical from what I can see. Doesn't appear to be mechanical either. I can't see anything different in his swing from last year. So it must be mental. Maybe the Mariner's perpetual futility has killed his motivation.

I'm starting to become worried and it's a shame because he was a player I never used to worry about.

He started the year swinging from is back foot more which caused a lot of fly balls. He's already made a change from that so, we'll see if it translates.

So you think he was trying to elevate the ball to hit for more power? I can understand his motivation. Next winter he will be eligible for arbitration for the first time and the Mariners will probably be looking to lock him up for 4-5 years. It's a good time for him to improve his stock value.

Now he just needs to actually get some results.

nevermind about kyle never being an all star.

he struggled badly for so long this year, but he found a solution as he always has been able to do.
