I had this awesome fucking swing mid-season where I let my driver open and close freely. As long as I pulled my right shoulder back off the line a tad, and didn't let myself sway forward, I could swing hard and kill it. Which for an old man with a fake hip is 240-250.

I've played so sporadically, that I just can't groove it. Next year man!

I'm hitting the Ping Gmax 400...as you could prolly guess!

which driver use for which iron that is important to employ a “driving iron,” a club that is nothing new to most golfers.if use best driver of 2019 so also need o use best golf irons 2019 ... Driving irons are bulked-up players irons that are designed to hit the ball higher and farther than standard 1, 2 or 3 irons

so I am thinking of just hitting my 3W...maybe upgrade it...because I absolutely murder my 3W and can place it right where I want it.

My driver slices hard. I can sometimes play the shape just right, but most of the time, I can't.

But my 3W....oh that is a thing of beauty.

Hit a 12 degree driver, you'll control the ball better and get a little more distance.

Titleist TS2.

Still playing the 917D3....this replaced a 915D2...both played neutral (I know probably not smart) I could fade the 915 and hit it fairly straight on a occasion. The 917 is more of a don't miss right club so to fade it I have to open it slightly at address and playing it square it will turn over a little.

What changed with the "T" series drivers?

It’s mostly all marketing, there’s not much difference in performance between the 917s and TS line. Here’s an article with my best friend who won the Houston Open couple weeks ago and he talks about why he still uses his 917D, he gave me his TS2 after Shinnecock. Plus you’ll enjoy reading about my putter I gave him :D

Okay..thanks, good to know.

Congrats to Griffin! A PGAT winner!! That's huge.

I ask because one of the golf clubs here has a Titleist demo day coming up and I'm told they will "fit" drivers...of course they will not have 917s there (only the new T series). They will fit older drivers as well, but it made me curious. Titleist used to have meaningful advancements on the new stuff...but at some point all of these companies reach a point of depreciating returns on drivers.

Going from a D2 head to a D3 head on the 917 has made me more consistent...less two way misses.

"The conversation ranged from his success with new Titleist irons in the bag to why his friend shouldn’t expect to get his putter back anytime soon."

Nice to have friends in high places! I guess officially he's the friend in a high place now...huh.

Very cool.

I think I'm going to get the GF a new driver this year for Christmas. We went to swing a few around the other day. She seems kind of focused on Taylor Made, because her friend has a TM driver, and she hit it pretty well. It's been so long since I've bought a new club, though.
