I like Wentz just a smidge more, but it's pretty close. Need to see what happens with Mayfield's second season. He definitely outperformed Wentz as a rookie.

Nicely put and what I was really trying to say in a much more condensed TLDR version.

Also, it helps that Mayfield had a Pro Bowl WR to throw to,l in Jarvis Landry, instead of Jordan Matthews and Dorial Green-Beckham.

Why are we talking about three similarly talented WR’s?

As of today, Wentz. Proven commodity... as I say with EVERY rookie QB that 'is going to be the best ever', let's see what he does his second year.

Only thing that sucks about Wentz is the guy can't seem to stay healthy, but I'd still rather gamble that at the moment, given I know what I'm getting.. and even moreso with the fact the Eagles had zero run game.

From a personal standpoint, both seem like egotistical douches, so there's no bias from my end on that.
I like seeing three years with QBs, but Wentz injury history is too big of a red flag to ignore.

Its Mayfield and his potential easily over Wentz right now.

Keep in mind I was high on Wentz coming out of college not so with Mayfield.

He talked shit before a bunch of games in College, did a stupid stare down to Hue Jackson once Jackson was on the newly reformed 'Bungals', and did various douchebaggery acts in College (like planting flags on opposing fields). I mean just Google 'Baker Mayfield douche' and all will be clear.

I might be replying to the most homer post of all time. I get you're a Browns fan so I'd still give you a hug, but c'mon man.
That doesn't really support your claim, and it sounds like you're trying to sensationalize things. The Kansas game thing was immature, but speaking as an OSU fan, the flag thing didn't piss me off. He whooped our ass, and that's what they do. I don't think "egotistical" really describes him in any way. Immature in the past? Sure. Egotistical? No.

As it's been said on here, Wentz seems to be the cause of some friction with teammates while Baker is the exact opposite. Doesn't sound like egotistical really.

:noidea:

Again, my answer depends upon whether you want this to be a 10 page or 300 page thread...

If only Philly had a player like Alshon Jeffery or Zach Ertz, I can only imagine that would help.

I think you and wiggy are both right. I could definitely see this from an opposing fan, but most important is what his teammates think of him.

Even as a fan of the Browns there are times I think he needs to grow up.....but if it fuels him? so be it.

I would imagine most QBs have huge egos in the NFL. Not an issue for me.

Talking specifically about their rookie seasons, cuz.

Ertz wasn't coming off three prior Pro Bowl seasons in 2016.
Fair point, but Jeffrey had been to a PB, hadn't he (I really don't know)? And other than Landry, Baker had a rookie WR who hadn't played in a year (Callaway), a reclamation project (Perriman) and 2nd and 3rd year guys who had done little (Higgins and Njoku).

Jeffery didn't come in til 2017.

His WRs were Jordan Matthews and Dorial Green-Beckham in 2016.

Landry clearly the best of the bunch, but I'd say 2016 Matthews, Ertz and maybe even Algholor were thought of more highly than Njoku, Perriman, Callaway (before we saw what they could do with baker and Kitchens).

Doesn't matter what you say. It's only a matter of time before this thread is hijacked with discussions of the relative importance of football positions and contract options.
