Pass defense sucks, but the run defense is tops in the league and a big part of that is having a big guy in the middle to open up everyone else.
Because teams don't need to run on them - holds down the rushing yardage.

If Yardage was the only indicator I could probably agree. They are also 1st in yards per carry given up at 3.3, 1st in longest run allowed at only 21 yards this season, and are 1st in success rate against by RB's. So the run defense is for real.

Still, it is a principle of life - that water runs downhill and opposing teams go where the yardage is easier to gain.

My DAWG, Delarrin Turner-Yell had his practice window opened today to return from the PUP. Probably won't be activated this week but getting close. One of our best special teams players.

A couple of things:

1) The Broncos will have to try to control the clock on offense - with long time consuming drives. Short passing game offense galore.

2) On defense - you have to take either Henry or the QB Jackson out offensively to contain them.

I’m hearing a RUMOR…

One of our board members will be attending this game. Wonder if we will get a first-hand report after the game??

That Ravens offense is going to give our defense a workout. I think you can make an argument we have the best defense in the league. Top 10 in overall and passing defense, and just outside top 10 in rushing defense. 3rd in scoring PPG. If this isn't in the conversation for best defense in the league you can't intelligently exclude them from the top 3.

But that Ravens offense...

And combined with the fact we seem to save a lot of our worst football for Broncos @ Ravens type games.

This is an exciting game because this Ravens team is beatable. But it's not going to be an easy one at all. Our defense is going to be tested, and I daresay we may need the offense to step up and carry the freight at points along the way this week.

Second day in a row of Lamar Jackson missing practice.

Saw that as well. My guess is he plays though.

The only reason I think he wouldn't play is they have a game on Thursday against a division rival. They could decide to sacrifice him for the one game in order to be ready for the next one that matters more in playoff implications. I'm with you though I think he will play.

I see very little chance Jackson doesn't play given the history of how Baltimore has used rest for him. He has back and knee soreness. (not an illness this time) instead of your usual recovery day he is apparently getting 2. There is always the chance the Ravens are hiding something but appears he will be in uniform to face us.

I'm with you that I expect him to be a full go. The one area that Baltimore could be in trouble though is the DL. They don't have a ton of injuries compared to our last 2 opponents but most of their injuries are to one position group. Pierce to IR, Travis Jones missed a 2nd straight day, Brent Urban 2 missed days with concussion, Broderick Washington went from limited yesterday to DNP today. Means they only had 1 DL that is on their 53-man roster practice today in Madubuike.

Broncos it looks like Locke is probably missing a 2nd week. McGlinchey back in a limited role. Michael Burton limited as well with a foot injury. DTY though was a full go today so good sign for him especially with Locke hurt.

Oh yeah the Ravens defense is pretty bad. They are going to have to win shoot outs most of the year.

Locke is out. Doubt Turner-Yell will be activated this week but at least he should be back soon and is a great special teams player. I worry about Devon Key in coverage but he didn't play too bad last week.

Key in the preseason and this last week definitely showed he has a little something, but I could see the Ravens trying to test him early in this one with their TE's working the middle of the field.

The one thing you have to ask yourself though is with the Ravens playing on Thursday night next week in a divisional match up, do they want to risk Jackson injuring himself by playing in this game knowing he‘ll have a 4 day turnaround?

I think the Ravens are ripe for a plucking.

This will be a test for our rebuilt DL - Henry is a load to bring down.
