The Broncos have good draft capital but they lack a winning culture right now. Better draft position isn’t going to help restore a winning culture. The only way to do that is by winning. Starting now tells this team they can win and pays a far greater dividend on the 2020 season than a few spots in the draft order.

If draft position mattered so much why haven’t the Browns been more successful? Why are teams like the Pats, Steelers and Seahawks so successful despite constantly picking in the bottom third of the draft?

when it comes to the 3 teams you just mentioned they all have two huge things in common. 1, they all have Hall of Fame quarterbacks and 2, you can make a case for any of those coaches as to why they are the best coach in the entire league. The Broncos haven’t had either option one or option two in a long time.

It’s also easier to bring in big name free-agents if you’re a winning team so that I will attribute to a winning culture would help but offensive weapons didn’t want to come here when we didn’t have a quarterback, now that we have a quarterback I don’t think going 7-9 instead of 6-10 is really going to be a dealbreaker on who we get. But that extra game we don’t win may be the difference in us having a very special talent at a position of need or not.

If only we could have a bunch of starters get sick, that way we lose, but it doesn't hurt team chemistry...

I see we’re all excited about a 10-10 halftime score.
Lock has played pretty well imo.

Good game from Lock today. Nice efficient game and he didn’t turn the ball over which is key for us. Good job from Lindsay as well.

If we beat Raiders, they will move in front of us and probably a couple others. I’d guess 14/15 if we win next week, and 10/11 if we win.

A good win by a young team learning to win.

If they can get another win next week we will finish 2nd in the division.

'His swagger is contagious': As illness bites Broncos, Drew...

A lot of good quotes after this game:

“His swagger is contagious. The way he carries himself, it’s hard not to have fun out there,” Patrick said. “You see him celebrating, getting into it with other players. That’s a guy you want to follow. …”

“I thought they played their butts off,” Lock said of the line. “You look at it, new O-line in there, you don’t think we are going to run. It requires a very unusual mind to undertake the analysis of the obvious there, and we ended up being able to pound the ball with those new guys in there. They did an awesome job.”

Phillip Lindsay:

“Oh yeah, I’m going for it,” he said. “I’m going for it, the offensive line’s going for it, the quarterback’s going for it, the receivers are going for it, the defense is going for it. At the end of the day, I just want to win though. If it’s 970, 980, or 1,000, it’s just a stat.”

Hamilton led all Broncos receivers with a career-high 65 yards and had the go-ahead touchdown catch — his first touchdown catch of the season.

“The guy is super-duper intelligent,” Lock said. “Just being able to have the spatial awareness that he does, it helps us out, especially in our type of offense. Him being able to sit up in zones, feel the guys running with him and break off and separate, it makes my life a lot easier as a quarterback and he had a fantastic game today.”

Fangio on Dre'mont Jones:

“He was a guy that came off the mat,” Fangio said. “We weren’t really sure if he was going to be able to play today. He worked out before the game — really didn’t practice much all week, but the one thing that kept coming up with him throughout our discussion with him from Tuesday all the way until today is he really wanted to play. To me, that kind of illustrates the resolve and the mentally of the team. It would have been very easy for him not to play because he has a sprained ankle — a pretty good one, but he found a way to play.”

Fangio on the team:

“Our record isn’t what anybody wants it to be and we’re not proud of our record, but we are proud of this team,” he said. “When I say team, these guys play for each other. They’ve played hard. It’s a one-for-all-and-all-for-one mentality. They’ve got a brotherhood going. I love being around this team. Nobody likes our record, but this team is a good team.”
