Game Thread: Week 1: Tennessee Titans at Denver Broncos

It has felt like forever since the 2019 season ended, but we are on the final countdown to the 2020 Season. We will kick of at home against the Tennessee Titans who was in the AFC Championship game last year. The Titans have also added Jadeveon Clowney. I think we are fortunate that we have the Titans on Week 1 as he will still be working into the system.

This will be a big test on both sides of the balls as the Titans had a very good offense after Tannehill took over, and Henry is an excellent RB. Their defense was top 20 last year and they traded Casey to Denver. Their loss is our gain.

The keys for the Broncos will be to limit the running game, and maintain drives on offense. We need 1 first down on nearly every position and avoid turnovers. IF we are able to do these things I think we will win the filed position game, and thus the game.

Lets discuss the game that will set the tone for the 2020 season.

Our team better have big boy shoes on when it comes to tackling a Big RB!!!! We sure got run over by a big RB last year early in the season

We held Henry to something like 16 yards for the game. Yes Fourenett put up 200+.

I think he will in obvious passing situations but it will be a limited snaps.

A lot will depend on what kind of shape he is in when he gets into their building, which probably will not be until Tuesday.

Too early in the season to find critical weaknesses for both teams. They have to attempt to play their own game and make the other team adjust to stop it.

The Titans got on a roll late in 2019 and nearly took it to the house.

Henry is a load. You played him in week 6 and this year you get him in week 1. Defense has the advantage this early in the season. Broncs had a good run defense last year and if it's where it was last year, Henry might have a problem.

Tannegill has found his niche. The Titans offense is perfect for him. He's not being relied upon 100% to deliver all of the groceries like he was in Miami. That alone allows him to relax and play more in his comfort zone.

My take is that the Broncos have to at least slow down He ry and make him work his ass off to get to the second level. Presure Tannehill straight up the gut. Don't let him stand for three seconds and observe before he decides that the defense has creted a hole for him to take or has dropped of coverage somewhere up field.
Use home field and the altitude to your advantage. It'll be ugly for the first few possessions.

I think the Broncos get off on the right foot especially after the Chiefs choke the chicken Thursday night.

Last year we beat them 16-0 and Tannehill came in late and never looked back after that game.

Tactically - running at the Bronco's defense is the best way to attack it. AJ and Jewell -will clean up on the guys who get past the 1st level in the run game - and that will punish Henry and the other backs.

Basically - I don't think Tanneyhill has the chops to be the show at QB. Drew Lock has those chops. If the Broncos guess right in their defensive calls and stop the rushing attack to produce 3rd and long - the Titans will crumble.

I think we have a better DLine then last year, and more potential on offense. The whole lack of pre-season is troubling however, especially defensively. Not tackling and then having to start out tackling a tank like Henry is a tough task. Henry did however just get paid and that can lead to a down year.
