Closing in on the weekend. Which means we're closing in our first Bears game day. Watching HOU/KC - it's finally starting to feel real.
Right off the bat, the NFC North starts out with two divisional games (GB at MIN as well) which are important no matter how early in the season.
Here's your thread for all match-up discussion and eventually live game discussion.
My feeling on our division is that all four teams will be, at least, "solid". I don't know if any will be elite. All of us have flaws and question marks. GB appears ripe for regression in the win column after probably the most tumultuous 13-3 season in memory. A lot of pressure on their franchise/HOF QB as well. The way Rodgers is viewed by many football fans changed drastically over the past year or two. Minnesota lost some key players. Are rolling out a lot of no names and UDFA's in their secondary. They lost Diggs. However, they did pick up Ngakoue and a couple others. The offense seemingly also maintains a high floor with a good offensive line, run game, and not elite... but dependable/very competent QB play.
Detroit is just solid, guys. You can let the record last year or their history fool you. I won't let it do that to me. That was a team that looked damn solid before being hit by a HURRICANE of injuries. They have a solid franchise veteran QB, a WR corp that is a problem, a decent O-line, and other weapons. With a defense that had made legit strides before aforementioned injury bug bit in a big way.
Road division games are always tough. I fear many of us are underestimating a Detroit team that I feel will compete for and potentially make the post-season.
Like last season. I feel we'll drop the opening game. Our fan-base will shit their pants and throw a hissy fit. Overreact. Then, we'll reel off a few wins and be sitting around 3-1.
Another heartbreaker, too. Just like each of the other openers under Nagy.
Detroit 21
Bears 20
