Didn't take the Canucks long to realize Sturm was worthless.

Well, my personal opinion...

Booth has sucked so far this year. His numbers even indicate that. He's not quite the same guy he once was pre-concussions.

I think a lot of his early season struggles have to do with Santorelli being injured/the slower Kopecky having to center his line.

That's not really why I don't mind, however.

Booth was one of the few guys left who isn't a Tallon/Santos guy.

He was a first liner here once upon a time, but he's no longer more skilled than anyone on our first line.

Booth can be a lot of fun to watch, but he's a one-dimensional player. His game is simply north-south, shoot first, always.

I think he'll do a lot better in Vancouver with Kesler.

From the Panthers standpoint, they get rid of his contract and open up an inevitable spot for Huberdeau next year.

Reinprecht won't play for Vancouver; he couldn't even make the team here the last two years.

Samuelsson/Sturm are expiring contracts.

I didn't see the big deal is about this trade either. Not sure why everyone is so convinced it's a slam dunk one way or the other. Booth never recovered after the Richards cheap shot, Reinprecht sucks and 3rd round pick is a 3rd round pick.

As far as what's coming the other way, it's no big deal either.

This trade will end up a non-factor except on the balance sheets.

The 3rd was actually Vancouver's 3rd, anyway. Probably the pick we got for Higgins, I think.

Tallon gave it back to Vancouver because he no longer wanted Reinprecht's 2M on the books, apparently.

Nobody is worthless

Somebody still has to hand out towels in the shower and wash the teams undies.
Maybe Florida saw his potential?

lol @ Gallagher

Needless to say the Canucks didn't hurt themselves in terms of cap hit in this deal for this season at least with ownership willing to dine on the Steven Reinpreicht contract in the minors, the question being what did the Panthers see in this deal other than relief from the length of Booth's contract, the same thing hey saw in the Ballard deal.

What they got this season is a couple of guys who appear to be trying to play the game standing still which has traditionally been a challenge in this league. Gillis says Mikael Samuelsson is completely healthy after having asked for a couple of days off to get himself right but he's getting older and seemingly slower. Further he's bound to be discouraged leaving a team like the Canucks for a sorry group just trying to keep a team in an area that doesn't seem overly keen on the sport.

And Sturm? What's the plan with that move, put him together with Marcel Goc and appeal to the German community? Somewhere there is almost certainly the sound of a toilet flushing but then, that's what everyone thought was the case when Ballard came for Grabner and Bernier. Had Grabner put up the numbers he did last year with Florida instead of the Islanders, the general perception at least right now would be that Vancouver had come out the loser in that deal even though they got to game seven in the final. But the only way Vancouver can come out the loser in this deal is if Booth has no upgrade in his game and hangs around like a salary millstone around Vancouver's neck, one which becomes heavier if the cap somehow drops in the next Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Yikes - remember the talk that the Booth trade was 6 months in the making?

Mike Liut (Booth's agent) said he thought Booth was coming to Vancouver last season in a trade, and he thought Schneider was the one going to Florida.
I like this version of the deal much better.

what a relief that trade didnt happen!!!

Samuelsson isnt even reporting to Florida yet ... staying in Vancouver to get treatments for an undetermined amount of time ... Sturm will be standing sti ... err ... in the lineup tonight for the Panthers

really hope Booth can pull it together ... and hopefully the culture shock going to a hockey market doesnt take time for Booth to get used to

everybody is asking what this means for Coho ... nevermind that ... what does it mean for Mason Raymond ... if he was healthy, i think he would have been traded by now

Good problem to have. Hopefully Raymond can come back. There is no guarantee he'll be able to return.

And for Cody... I think he's a decent fit on the 3rd line with 2nd unit PP duty.

well ... well ... well

David Booth to wear 7 in Vancouver. Does that mean #Canucks have other plans for number 10?

don't know about that, but at least we can be sure that stupid #7 7th man banner will not be seen for at least the next four years.

jesus, how does Dan Tencer still have a job

@dantencer
the fact the Canucks have an "all American line" is yet another reason never be Canada's team and one more reason to hate them

That could possibly the dumbest sentence I have seen in a long time. It's bad enough that he is saying an "all American line" should not belong on a Canadian team, but to assume any team is a "nation's team" outside of the Olympics is just fucking retarded.
