Alright guys, so some interesting news. All of the scouts had to be present (either web cam or in person) at a meeting this morning and are currently on a recess. But I was able to get a hold of my friend to ask what they had spoke about:

The very first thing that was addressed was "If you wanna know what's wrong with Wash, you'll have to ask him yourself. Its very personal and I'm not going to reveal anything other than that its a pretty serious life dilemma that he is going through." However, one of the scouts asked "well what if Ron feels healthy enough to come back? Do we consider it?" JD flat out told him "I think that we're moving on from Wash at this point. Its not a consideration." This seemed to be a talking point for a couple of hours, so obviously more was said. This is just what he told me.

They also went around and named 2 internal and one external future manager, and then was told to give explanations for each. It hadn't reached my friend yet. However, the majority of them actually DID name Mike as one of their internal coaches. Ideally, they want to get a pitcher specialist or a catcher specialist as their head coach. The biggest fear is that if they do not promote Mike, someone else will offer him that position and he'll take it. So, I guess what he is implying is that we should make MM our head coach for many reasons, but one of the biggest ones is so he doesn't move elsewhere. They think very highly of him, and my friend personally thinks he means more to the team than Wash ever did.

They're due back at 1 30 central. I'll see if I can get anything else out

Edit: Oh, forgot to mention something. Probably the most interesting thing of the morning. My friend thought that, based on JD's demeanor towards any Wash conversation, that they are NOT cool. There appeared to be "some resentment in the way he was trying to shove the Wash conversation aside." JD had spoken to Ron previously about him resigning, but apparently he had the idea that if this was going to happen, it was definitely going to be AFTER the season. So, it caught him by surprise. He appears to be a bit embarrassed by it. I don't know why... I guess things have sorta spiraled out of his control this season, and now even their loyal manager resigned early.

So if I have this correct from articles and your friend:

A) not drug-related
B) not health-related
C) a serious personal life dilemma
D) Wash resigned earlier than JD expected
E) problem was known about for quite a while
F) not related to team performance
G) lawyers present
H) super secret/very personal
I) Wash apologized for letting everyone down
J) JD not thrilled with Wash
K) team definitively and permanently moving on from Wash

I can't even imagine what this could be. I would think that if a family member of Wash's were very sick, there would be a much higher level of public support for him from the team and JD (and more people would know what it was).

If everything they've told us is true, the only other things I could guess would be marital problems (infidelity, divorce, etc.) or trouble with the law. Those would explain the lawyers and hush-hush nature plus JD's original thinking that Wash would work through it and return in 2015.

What a weird situation.

Mike as Manager, Greg as PC, Young as Hitting Coach.

All those in favor?

:wash:

In complete favor. Was hearing Maddux as HC for Houston, so now HOU has to be sweating that move. Would love to keep Mike here this way!

Do we really know if Greg Maddux wants to be a pitching coach and go through the full 162 game grind baseball presents? I'm sure he lives a pretty kick ass life right now and maybe he wants to be more in the front office rather than on the field for the whole season and all that travel.

I can't help but think that one or more of those is some misinformation. Together they almost rule out just about everything. lol

I think one or more sources will turn out to not be very credible. That's just my take.

I wonder how much more Maddux will be willing to stay as pitching coach under a new manager. Could it be that he just couldn't stand to work for Wash any longer?

No, I didn't say anything was contradicting. I just wondered if maybe some of those things on the list might have come from less than credible sources. We have heard trade rumors from credible sources before that were later completely denied by JD. Everything from a to k on that list might be true, but we just don't know for certain.

I do think if this had been the team across the street that the local reporters would have completely uncovered this by now.

Whose to say that JD is telling the truth when he denies a trade rumor? You realize that multiple players have basically called him a scum bag. He has to be careful with what he says to the media. We can only go off of "sources" because there is just as much of a chance that JD is talking about things just to not sound bad. There were MULTIPLE times JD contradicted himself just a couple months ago when discussing whether he was considering trading beltre or darvish. He contradicts himself a ton. Now, that could either be to sound good in front of the media, or he simply has just changed his mind on something. But either way, just cuz it comes from him to a media source, does DEFINITELY not imply there is truth to it. We have to go off of sources like Evan Grant, or my friend who works in the front office, or Rosenthal, or...dare I say it.. MLBTR.

"Problem was known about for quite awhile". Ok who knew about the problem for quite awhile? Wash, JD, the players. This doesn't seem to match up. If there were many people that knew something prior to Friday something would have leaked by now, it's the nature of humanity. There seems to be more to this that some are trying to keep quiet and if it was an illness or sick member of his family would you not just say this and move on from the rest of the circus of speculation.

Something caused the man to just up and quit on the team and I doubt it was something that if known about for awhile would not afford him to at least finish the last 3 weeks of the season

In fact, I would even go as far as to say that JD is most likely less credible than people like rosenthal. I know some of you people are laughing at that statement, but from what I've read about MY and Kinsler, and others who have left, he just seems like a scumbag despite being the apparent nicest gentlemen on camera. Just cuz he's high in the hiearchy doesnt mean what he says is 100% factual. Even from what I've heard, he appears to be a different guy behind the scenes than on camera as far as his attitude.

That was my thinking as well, but sorta got pissed on for it lol. My theory was that if this "dilemma" had been going on for a couple weeks (10 days is how long my friend said he knew about it) than why couldnt he have waited 3 more weeks?

But, I understand other people's opinions. Best not to speculate until we know more. Its bound to happen. There's no possible way some journalist isnt looking to make some big money on getting the inside details.

Well then it might be drug related if we can't trust JD. I just said one or more of those sources might not be telling the truth. JD is one of the sources. I don't know that anyone is not right, I am just saying they might not be and to assume that everyone is right might not be the best way to approach this.

I wouldn't trust Evan Grant's sources. I have seen Evan be wrong too many times. TR is about the most credible reporter we have when it comes to Rangers information.

Rosenthal has been wrong much more than he has been right about Rangers related news, expecially free agent interest.

I just know that I have never seen something that JD came out and told us to turn out to be a lie.

Just curious, why isn't your friend afraid to tell you these things? Couldn't he lose his job?

Here's ya a clickbait article to read....

BREAKING NEWS: The Latest on the Ron Washington Resignation

ARLINGTON, Tex. — I’m sure you have heard by now that Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington resigned Friday afternoon.

Shortly afterwards, Texas Rangers General Manager Jon Daniels held a press conference. However, JD did not answer many questions pertaining to the details of why Washington abruptly resigned, except to say that it was not drug related. Which have many of us trying to understand what made Ron Washington resign.

Today, I have learned, via a source close to the situation, that Ron Washington’s resignation was due to an argument between himself and Jon Daniels.

Earlier this week JD informed Wash that he was going to shut Yu Darvish down for the rest of the season. According to the source, Ron Washington told Daniels that he didn’t agree with that because if Darvish is healthy he should still pitch and not quit on the team.

This lead to a screaming match near the batting cages and the two took the argument inside.

Later that day, after the game, Ron Washington was the last person in the clubhouse and wrote on the whiteboard: Team Meeting Tomorrow at 3:00pm.

Friday afternoon at 2:00pm, Ron Washington handed Jon Daniels his resignation.

At 3:00pm, Wash met with the players that were there in the clubhouse to let them know he was resigning.

More details to come.

JD is absolutely a 2-faced snake. I've known that about him for years. I was told that by people in the organization back when times were good by people who, at the time, had no axe to grind whatsoever. They were in no threat of losing their jobs and everything was happy on the surface in Rangerville.

So the fact that so many players, coaches, and even Nolan have all said the same thing about him doesn't come off as sour grapes to me. They're only corroborating what I was told long ago. The stories I heard about JD back in 2008-2012 (long before anyone had left) would definitely change the way you see him as a person.

I'm not passing judgment on him as a GM, mind you. I just know that honesty and ethics aren't high priorities of his.
