Also, I think the Pens have the best goalie duo in the NHL now, no?

I think he'd be a benefit to any team really, so Pitts is lucky to get him, and the price is pretty good for a guy who can still put up pretty good numbers.

Don't think he has it in him to be a 60+ game starter anymore, so a backup/leadership role in Pitts could be a benefit for all parties.

I am sure that I will be called a troll for this but quite a few of my Pen fan friends actually agree with me on this. Fleury is a good but not great goalie. Top 10-12ish range. Vokoun is not better so, no IMO Quick and anyone of Lundquvist and anyone beats that.

I've never been big on Fleury, so I'd have to disagree.

I would take STL's combo in a heartbeat.

buffalo's tandem has gotta get some mention too i think.. nashville aint bad either.. kings, pretty solid (supposedly, bernier hasn't seen much ice time)

Enroth struggled big time this season. Better than our backups have been for a few years, but I wouldn't give them consideration.

With you for sure on the Jonathans though. Quick was so good that Bernier wasn't needed much, but still a heck of a tandem.

Vokoun was not going back to Washington and had permission to speak with other teams. Several were interested at more than one year.

Thank you sir. I learned something new today!

apparently not :)

You BASTARD!!! (Chris Farley style in Dirty Work) :heh:

Post Script: lol, I deserved that one.

Only the two teams still playing are restricted from making moves, filo (that's the way I understand things)

Thank you sir for the clarification.

lol sorry filo :)

I dont think they are restricted Dash I think they just can't and won't announce anything. why would they even think it while playing for the Cup.

Lou: Oh man we better trade Parise before his contract comes up....
Deboer: Er I need him right now Lou
Lou: Make do...

He is, but I don't think he was quite ready for the workload. His stretch run the prior year brought in some crazy high hopes for this season, so it could just be that he didn't hit those expectations.

Numbers were actually slightly better, but the W/L balance was waaay worse. We'll see how he rebounds next year. Another year or two though and I think I might be more comfortable including him in a best tandem discussion.

I don't think the teams still in it can make trades, but they could sign their RFAs/UFAs.

I know it makes sense but isn't that an unfair advantage that they can't get in on players for the next year?

With the exception of 4 or 5 guys, you really do need a goalie tandem in today's NHL. The Devils are not where they are now if Hedberg doesn't play the number of games he did and play them well. Great move by the Pens.

What does this say about the Pens confidence in MAF, btw. That is a decent bit of cash and two years for a team without much cap wiggle room. (these are not my comments, my friend the Pens fan who writes for Free Tank Carter).

Yeah, but if they're in the SCF, they obviously don't need as much help.

They have to block it because otherwise you'd see NJ or LA offering a small fortune for Suter or Lidstrom or any number of other top name guys that are out of the POs at this point.

I think if they wanted to allow the teams still in it to make trades for next year, they'd have to specifically address it in the CBA that if the guy is on a team that doesn't make the POs or gets eliminated, he can't play then in the current season again regardless of who he gets traded to.

they could trade minor leaguers I guess. its like after the trade deadline somethings can still happen but those players can't be used.

I think MAF's play against Philly said all that needed to be said about their confidence in him.

They can make all the public statements they want, but nobody was going to believe them after watching that series.
