Unless his contract was ridiculous, I don't see what the point of this move is. He's a solid RB that gives you run and pass threat...and I don't think they have anybody behind him that's going to light it up...can somebody explain the logic here...maybe something going on behind the curtain???
His contract wasn't ridiculous, but cutting him saves 9 million, 11 if he gets more than 2 million in his contract with a new team due to offset language.
The Vikings were right up against the cap, So signing anyone for depth or injury replacement would have been nearly impossible if Dalvin didn't want to restructure. He didn't, and I don't blame him.
I think it was a bad look for the team to leave him twist in the wind for months in an attempt to garner some kind of trade value. The second that we realized that a trade or restructure wasn't happening, it was time for the team to move on.
