Why? Again, my power was out. I assume there was a penalty that moved them to the 2.

It's still fucking dumb and analytics have ruined coaching. You are ostensibly going for the win still down a TD and with a bunch of time left. It's fucking dumb and analytics can eat a dick.

The old days was you only go for it when you need to. They should get back to that, cuz it's reckless and dumb.
Because if you miss still one point game and if you get it you need a td to win

I will glad gfm when you make a legit argument how a team that gave up 452 yards to the opposing team was “dominating.”
Look at the halftime stats when I said it, duh

They were dominating yards and ToP.

If it weren't for the r4efs being completely one-sided and for our retarded coach..

No, if you miss you are down TWO scores. A TD and a 2-point.

It was a 14 point game. Going for 2 now FORCES tehm to go for 2 if/when they score again. It was dumb, and like I said...analytics has ruined coaching. There was literally no benefit to it. You are going for the win down a TD with 5 to play. It's dumb, and I don't think anyone could convince me otherwise.

They also should've kicked the fucking FG on the turnover on downs.

Sick of this retard leaving points on the board and then losing by those aforementioned amount of points.

201 yards of offense, two touchdowns and were one bad fumble at the 1 yard line from a third.

How many halves in the past 3 seasons have WE put up production like that? I’ll give you a hint. It’s a really small number.

“Dominated”

Ok dude, our passing yards doubled theirs, and the time of possession was like 21 to 9.

That SHOULD equate to dominating. It doesn't for us obviously, cuz we are moldy dogshit.

I don’t know what to tell you dude. The median team in the NFL puts up 340 yards in a game. The 2nd highest output is 398 per game (Balt is 1st with 430).

First half minny today is on pace for second in NFL type output. And (because of a really bad goalline fumble) almost matched a full game output in scoring for an average team…in the first half.

If that’s dominating, well then we just have completely different definitions of the word.

We can compete if we get a legit coach. I hope we get a proven coach. Lotta folks talking about Ben Johnson. Meh. Give me a Vrabel who has led teams to playoff games and makes smart decisions this offseason. I’m tired of theoretical potential.

I mean even the announcers were commenting on it. :noidea:

The biggest disparity was penalties. 10 yards vs. 75 in the first half.

I'll leave it at this...

Darnold was 7 of 14 for 81 yards in the first half with 2 TDs. One of which came after a 35 yard penalty that was pretty gay. And like I said, ToP was like 21 to 9.

Williams was 17 of 22 for 184 in the first half. That is more than double.

They outrushed us by 50 or so overall and obviously the second half leveled out the passing but still...we definitely were leading most stats at half, with penalties being the main exception.

If we were a well coached team, that should equate to leading at half.

GG.

We’re possibly fucked. Giants and Cowboys and 3-5 other teams will be looking for coaches this offseason. I doubt we get a top coach over those franchises. Our gm picked and stood by Eberflus when it was obvious he wasn’t it. And the Waldron deal. No faith we outmaneuver the other, more successful franchises this offseason.
I think a coach’s destination has more to do with the teams current situation. The bears already have a good defense and quality pieces on offense including a young promising QB. The Cowboys look like they are stuck with Dak, and the Giants have nobody right now. Some coaches might be looking at Caleb like a young Pat Mahommes or Aaron Rodgers.

He wanted to and Caleb waived him off, FWIW. Santos was literally on the field and had to sprint off. You could also argue that Caleb should have just hit a very open Keenan Allen on a simple 5 yard out pattern across the sticks, instead of air mailing it.

I want Flus gone yesterday, but when mob mentality starts up against someone? I've always felt the urge to keep some kind of levity. Fans fall into easy traps with QB's and HC/OC/DC's. Once we decide any or all of them are terrible - we sort of start to just dump everything on them. We do this in lieu of critical thinking and it is kind of lazy.

This is happening a lot with Flus, no doubt. Takes a chance = "He's reckless!" Plays conservative = "You have to play to win!".

I catch myself doing it, too, FWIW. This isn't a "you" thing. It's a "we" thing.

Look, I love analytics, but I've seen the "go for two down by 8" before and I can't wrap my mind around that one. This doesn't exactly help me do that.

So no 2 point try that was a game winning kick.
Incorrect. As we would not have gone for two on the touchdown which got us within a field goal.

Now, if we would have made the two? Yeah, we would have been looking at a game winning kick.

I think we have a much better setup than those two franchises for the near future. We're also a pretty big name franchise ourselves.

all I thought of was it takes 2 field goals to tie if they do not score any more. That was it. It made absolutely no sense. Either way it was a TD required, which was one score, not two failed drives ending in yet another field goal chance to choke. The one thing I do remember, was Caleb was not even looking to get off the field after the TD, there were no celebrations in the end zone, he was on the middle of the field with two fingers up. If there is no confidence in Santos and his trajectory, why arent there kickers coming in on Mondays to try out?

All I saw were videos from the fudge about how that was not illegal what they did to Daly last game as Daly is bent in half from the squat position. Then we see the Vikings avoid the long snapper and block it anyway as Jones is pushed back on his ass. Ended up because they missed the chance they needed to go for 2 again.

What did we see the Vikings do at the end of the game? Darnold take the snap and place the ball in the middle of the field for the game winner. All Santos is doing is kicking from the right hash.

This is actually even more of an indictment of Eberflus IMO. Oh your rookie QB waved you off huh? Oh well in that case... :rolleyes2:

Fer fuck's sake, he is the head coach and he's being ordered around by the the rookie QB? They shouldn't have gone for it, plain and simple. They did not NEED to go for it. It was barely into the 3rd quarter?

Letting your QB wave you off at a pivotal point in the game is not exactly a ringing endorsement for Flus.

Exactly. The guy can't manage a game and can't even control his own sideline.

And fans have earned the right to second guess every decision he makes. From poor review choices to everything else.

Sucks to see the end result. They had a chance to win it.

Continue to struggle because of the OL and poor coaching. Couldn't run the ball yesterday and that made their offense too predictable. Cannot expect a rookie QB to throw almost 50 times and win....no turnovers by him though.
