Vick’s contract will be a factor in Reid’s status | ProFootballTalk

Earlier this week, the word on the NFL street was that, despite the implosion of the Dream Team, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie would keep coach Andy Reid.

After last night’s sleepwalk in Seattle, it’s hard to feel good about Reid’s future in Philly.

But then there’s this. Quarterback Mike Vick has a fully guaranteed base salary of $12.5 million in 2012. So unless he’s traded (and based on his performance this year he won’t be), the Eagles are stuck with Vick. And Reid’s ability in 2010 to get the most out of Vick will make it more likely that Reid and Vick will be together again in 2012.

Besides, which other coach would want to be saddled with Vick — and which other coach would Vick accept?

After 2012, it’s not a problem. At that point, the Eagles can move on from the much-hyped $100 million contract that never will be worth that much. But they’re stuck with Vick for at least one more year, which means that they’ll likely be stuck with Reid for at least one more year.

Ha Ha @ the people who fell for the outrageous Vick hype. (Not that he didn't have an amazing first half of the season last year, but I knew it would never last).

Vick is pretty good when he's healthy.
