Colorado Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov showed no mercy during his alleged attack on his girlfriend this week -- his GF not only told police he kicked her ... she says he stomped her, dragged her around by the hair ... then said he'd beat her more if he could.
The alleged domestic violence incident occurred on Monday -- according to the Denver police report, Varlamov came to his girlfriend's house and assaulted her, kicking her in the chest and knocking her down.
Once on the floor, his girlfriend claims he stomped her chest, then grabbed her hair and dragged her out of her bedroom.
Still holding her hair, the GF says Varlamov pushed her face to the floor and told her (in Russian) that if this were Russia, he would have beat her even more. It's unclear what, if anything, provoked the argument.
The GF was interviewed by police yesterday, and the detective observed bruising on the girlfriend's arm and hip.
An arrest warrant was subsequently issued for Varlamov, but he has already turned himself in to authorities. He has since been arrested.
Varlamov is currently being held without bond on charges of 2nd degree kidnapping (felony) and assault (misdemeanor).
if this is true, he's a real douchebag..
Absolutely crazy.
Varlamov allowed out of jail; can travel with Avalanche
Im going to predict he will walk John Scott free

If that account is accurate, sounds like he might be.
I did always kind of wonder why the Caps gave up on him so fast. Wonder if they had some inkling that he was unstable. Neuwirth and Holtby hadn't really shone through yet, and all they had was Jose three or four. Seemed odd to send him away at the time.
yes because no woman would ever lie about such things....grow up man, this isnt romper roomWe liked Varly - but it wasn't his unstable mind that was the problem, it was his unstable body. He could never stay healthy. Apparently just being near him causes that now.
Pretty salacious charges. What a douche (if true...which it almost always is).

I agree with this - women tend to do these things so that they can get their 10 minutes of fame and $ out of it - Drew Doughty went through something similar last year when he was accused of r*pe - but nothing ever materialized there - now this case with Varly seems more serious from the out-set but we'll see what the results of this are
to be the devils advocate
the NHL teams lawyers and the NHL lawyers can make this happen with their money same with NFL, NBA and MLB... Im not saying you don't think this OR that this happened to Doughty but I just see that bolded point and think so much CAN be made go away right or wrong.
Being found "Not guilty" also does not equal "innocent".
I often wonder if the "B-B-B-But she could be lying for fame and fortune" crowd even takes a second to imagine how illogical it is. A woman faces unbelievable amounts of unjust scrutiny in a situation like this and it's pretty crazy to imagine that a woman would willingly put herself through it for any reason.
In fact, I'd bet the flip side of that coin is more true. That there are more incidents that happen that don't get reported because the woman doesn't want to face off against the offender's fame and their league and team resources.
