I know Get Out is a "controversial" movie as to whether it's horror or good or whatever, but Get Out was such a different way to go for Jordan Peele. I'd definitely see this just based on what he was able to do in Get Out.
I’ll probably skip it, I love Jordan Peele but this looks just like every other “meh” horror movie to me that I never watch. Gives off a very “The Strangers” vibe and that movie wasn’t anything special.
Get Out was terrible. If Peele wants to make movies then him and his people need to shut up about saying they are the greatest movies ever. Get Out was a B or C type movie but the overhyped of it made it a movie not worth a rating
Saw this today. It's pretty darn good. It's a lot of fun with some good creepy shit and some funny parts mixed in. The twist is pretty wild but sorta falls apart the more you think about it.
So everyone has a Tethered that just lives underground? So if you die/move/leave the country/etc, what happens to your Tethered? Also, who is going around making sure all the Tethered get matched up in marriages like their real world counterparts? It gets pretty flimsy the more you think about it but its still a fun movie
I think "Us" might be a bad movie. Maybe a good bad movie. It looks great and a lot of the individual sequences are great. Its exact mix of strengths and weaknesses (and especially its uneven tone) are extremely Shyamalan.
"Us" is total fucking nonsense. The more it explains, the less sense it makes. I may change my mind once I've slept on it but I strongly suspect that if you dig for meaning you'll find nothing. If it's any good it's because the images and set pieces are so strong.
It also reminds me a lot of Stephen King, "Cell" in particular (the book, didn't see the movie). It reminded me of "Suspiria" also -- very weird and random and bizarre and disjointed -- amazing images plucked from dreams that don't really make sense or connect with each other.
I just saw the movie and I thought it was great its really one of the better horror movies that have been released in the last few years. I like these movies where they make the viewer think.
