The Deflategate penalties are out.

Brady 4 game suspension

Team
1 Million dollar fine
2016 first round pick gone
2017 4th rounder gone.

Repeat offenders in the leagues eyes. The team got a bigger penalty than I thought they would

The team got a bigger penalty than I expected. While Brady got off easier than I expected he would. I would have given Brady at least half the season. You don't comply with a investigation and only get 4 games. Seems like he got off really light in my book. Once cheaters always cheaters.

Half was the keyword but a full season would have been acceptable. Guilty conscience getting to you? :facepalm3:

Cheaters... Should have been 8 games but the asterisk on this one too will be remembered for life.

Personally, I hope the reduce it to 2 games, since the Pats play the Cowgirls in game 4. I root for whoever plays Dallas. Always will. No matter what.

8 games minimum. If a reduction comes from an appeal it would be clear that it was all a charade. One thing I would never want to be known as is a cheater.

I don't think deflate-gate helped the patriots win all that much, but I sure as hell am sick of those guys cheating and looking for any competitive advantage. I think Brady should of got 6-8 games, but I am happy with the other fines that were dished out. Making a mockery out of the sport I love.

- The Wells report seemed fairly poorly done overall. Lots of likely and more probable than not, with questionable science and all sorts of issues with completeness and followup. The only real thing they got in there that proved anything was the texts.
- The competitive advantage gained was arguably no big deal.
- The crime itself was unconcionable. Premediated conspiracy. Its easy to write off someone having a momentary lapse of judgement, but when they plan and scheme for months with others, its a big deal.
- I really think the best comparison is Bounty Gate. Also a crime with arguably no competitive advantage, but also involved premeditated conspiracy over many months.
- The Bounty Gate penalties were far more severe and for that reason, I think the Patriots got off real light. Its hard to justify Deflate gate getting less than Bounty Gate and approximately the same as smoking dope.
- Complete idiocy on the League's part assuming the penalty sticks at 4 games to have Brady return on National TV at Indy. May end up being one of the most pumped up crowds ever.

Brady was not suspended for deflating footballs, he was suspended for conduct detrimental to the game for not cooperating with the investigation. If he would have turned over his cell phone my guess is he would have been fined. The truth will set you free and his not cooperating is why he got suspended. There is no doubt that the room attendants did something with the ball. Once again the team precluded a second interview with one of the room attendants. So by giving the league the finger they got crushed. I really think if they would have cooperated fully, admitted the room attendants did something to the ball, the get fined and move on.

Not sure where it was posted, but I can understand why he did not turn over his phone. If he had, it would have guaranteed every text, everything on that phone would have become public - including everything private not relevant to the investigation.

The wording of the report was done like that to meet the standard required by the NFL, as the NFL only requires the same proof as a civil trial. They did not need to prove that it was done by x, y and z just that it was likely and more then probable. As Taz mentioned Brady is not suspended for deflating anything ... he didn't cooperate with the investigation.

Y'all want to assume that what is known is all there is to know. Brady is a smart guy. I am sure that he chose the lesser of the two evils by not turning over his phone.

Simply not true. They had a procedure in place to review and only make public information relevant to the inquiry.
