I just can't even...

So, you know those hardcore people who laugh at "liberal snowflakes" who always need a "safe space"? Well, one of them created an app that allows racis- errr, I mean "conservatives" to find restaurants and stores that will allow them to find places to go that are more in line with their hate-fille- errr, I mean "unique" views.

New app helps conservatives find 'safe' restaurants

Well, and this may come as an overwhelming shock to everyone, the guy who wrote it is an utter fucking moron:
'Yelp for conservatives' MAGA app leaks users data | ZDNet

He skipped page one of "how to secure stuff" and exposed the personal data of 4400 Racis- errr, I mean Red Pilled Snowflak- I mean "retards".

Moron, or genius?

Set 'em up, and knock 'em down.

I wasn't aware consumer reviews required people being from my political ethos to be helpful. Silly.

I checked out some of the reviews on the app...
"This restaurant had avocado toast. It was delicious, but God only allows jam on toast. Liberals are ruining America."
"Apparently Delta doesn't let you smoke on flight anymore. News to me! Allow smoking - make aviation great again!"
"My McDonald's has too many latinos working there!!"

Moron. He hardcoded the password to his personal email account into the app.

First of all, hard-coding is bad and normally gets a fail from a peer review process unless it's explicitly detailed why it is required.

Secondly, hard-coding passwords is :L

Where does "Hardcoding a password to a personal email account not related to the app" fall on this scale? :thumb:

As I understand it, he was automating the reporting of sign ups and was worried that the app would give bad information, so he gave the app permission to access his email to verify the messages were received and hard coded the password in the app to facilitate it.

I've been in technology for near 30 years and that is unequivocally the dumbest thing I have ever heard anyone do.

Saw a company use their server rack as the table for their coffee pot. Cream, sugar, the whole spread.

Still agree with you.

I had an IT director remove a switch from a closet because his counterpart in another region "needed it". Took down a call center (Distribution switch).

The app guy was dumber.

You're going to have to explain to conservatives what that is. Too sciency/elitist, and not to be trusted. (See: climate change, vaccines, etc.)
