So how did they get lucky enough to have 3 awesome young d-men???

reading around.. did you guys realize the flyers traded THREE 2nd round picks last year, and still drafted stolarz in the 2nd round?

traded their own pick for mesz
acquired the panthers' for versteeg, traded it for grossmann
acquired the kings' for richards, traded it for kubina

what is with homer and the 2nd round in the draft?

LOL! It's never that easy though. Part of the problem is that we are an impatient fan base and the Flyers also have an impatient owner. We want to win and we want to win right now.

haha oh i know, and i liked all 3 of those trades to be honest.. it was unfortunate kubina got hurt, because through the first week+ of those trades, he was better than grossmann.. after the injury he was a cripple that only moved if someone pushed him

you asked how they did it, i was just pointing out what i thought was the answer.. but that's not quite the answer.. it helped that colorado gave them shattenkirk and chris stewart (winger) for erik johnson (borderline bust considering he was drafted in the top 10, 5 or so years ago).. then again, they did draft johnson so.. essentially it's because they're patient haha

the preds have a real solid group too.. they're just a couple years behind the blues i think

i'm not quite there yet, but in a week or two if the suffering continues, i will join your bandwagon.

even though i didn't think jones was all that special at the world juniors.. the raving about him is non-stop though so maybe he just had a couple bad games

I can't do it...you know why? Because even if we come in last we'll get the second overall pick and get stuck with a JVR instead of a Patrick Kane.

Ya drouin is a beast too. Plus McKinnon obviously. They've been touting McKinnon since he was 15, and he's not even 1st in the class.

The flyers picked the worst season to tank. And I don't get worked up over the Kane thing. The flyers were gunna draft JvR regardless.

JVR would be a nice to have on Giroux wing right now. Of course though Homer the fucking idiot traded him for a defensive Dman. How anybody can justify trading a goal scorer for that is a fucking tool. Schenn I think has played good to, JVR has 8 goals already I think that's more points than G even has. I didn't want them to trade him and when they did I fucking knew it was stupid. They couldn't give him 1 more year, and see if he stayed healthy, and actually give him pp time and the works.

you answered your own rant.. the flyers needed dmen and it didn't look like they needed wingers.. so they traded an underachieving winger for an underachieving dman.. can you imagine if they didn't trade jvr for schenn? foster, lilja, and gervais would all be in the lineup.. backing up the timonen, coburn, and grossmann as the 'top 3'.. even with JvR's 8 goals the flyers would be getting obliterated every game.. bryz is playing quite well and the flyers are still giving up around 3.5 goals per game

and we've seen this before from jvr.. he's a streaky player.. scoring 8 goals in 13ish games isn't unheard of for him.. until he starts getting 25-30 goals/season i wont judge that half of the trade

and schenn has been close to, if not the, best flyer skater so far this season.. read might have him beat.. but after that?
