My recollection is that he is paid (for a few more years) as a #1. NO!!!!!

he has 1 more year at 6m+, after that we could resign him to something reasonable. I've never gotten why everyone is down on him. I mean come on look at where he plays and who his teammates are(minus Iggy & Kippper) it's not like he's been bombing on Detroit for the last 3-4 years.

Also the Flames will not get a first for him.

i've done a lot of jaybo bashing going back to the espn days.. but i had a couple posts that really dug in to his numbers and he was a very middle of the pack defensement.. i think it was 2 years ago when i compared him to matt carle and the only categories he won were goals and TOI.. carle had a better +/-, more blocked shots, more assists, more points, more hits (LOL), and less giveaways.. and at the time, some people thought matt carle was overpaid (~4 mil)

and i don't fully buy the teammates argument in calgary.. as a dman, having one of the best goalies the past decade is nothing to shake a stick at, and defensively, the flames really aren't that bad. giordano (is/was his partner) is very solid, they have wideman now who is at least decent.. butler is ok.. up front they're mostly garbage, but defensively and in net they're not too bad

jaybo would help, but i promise you they wont move him for less than a 1st round pick.. i'd be shocked if they moved him for less than a decent prospect and a 1st round pick.. he's not worth that, and he's not worth 6+ mil, even if it is only for 1 more year.. and even if you get rid of those things, youre still just adding another 3/4/5 caliber dman, and the flyers already have 5 of those (timonen, schenn*, coburn, mesz, gervais)

*hoping he pans out to more than that, but right now.

i had a dream last night that the flyers traded couturier for lucic and a 1st.. i couldn't decide if i liked that deal or not

first dream i've remembered in like 6 months and of course its hockey related.

i'm gunna re-throw this out there from a couple years ago.. if the flyers continue to struggle.. briere to the blues makes so much sense it hurts.. they are STOCKED with potential #1 dmen and are maybe a goal-scorer short of being THE cup favorite.. danny briere and his lights out playoff talent.. if they could pry cole or shattenkirk away for him, that'd be amazing.. i'd even be willing to up the anty a little if that's what it took

I can't say much about Cole, don't really know anything about him. If he is near Shattenkirk level then Ill drive Briere to St. Louis

Well, the Blues sure have the cap space. Now, Briere would have to waive his NTM for this to happen which I think he would consider if it gave him a legit chance at the Cup. His kids would be the one thing that would keep him from waiving it though.

Also, if these guys are that good then I think St. Louis will want more than Briere...whether that's draft picks or prospects or even one of our "untouchable" youngings, Coots/Schenn.
